Seamus McKee is a presenter of "Evening Extra" on BBC Radio Ulster. Previously he was a news presenter for BBC Northern Ireland, mainly working in radio.

A former French and English teacher and sports presenter he has worked for the BBC fulltime since the early 1980s. [1] On 13 September 2022 he provided television commentary for a service at St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast attended by King Charles III on his first visit to Northern Ireland as king. [2] The British Prime Minister Liz Truss and Taoiseach Micheál Martin also attended the service. [3]

History

In 1984, during The Troubles, there was controversy when he was named at an Ulster Unionist Party conference as one of an unrepresentatively large number of Roman Catholics working for the BBC. [4]

Awards

He was named as News Broadcaster of the Year in the Phonographic Performance Ireland (PPI) Radio Awards in 2014 and 2016. [5] [6] [7]

Gordon Henry Burns is a Northern Irish journalist and broadcaster. He was the host of The Krypton Factor for its original 18-year run (1977–1995) and was the chief anchorman for the BBC regional news programme North West Tonight from January 1997 to October 2011. In November 2011, Burns moved back to Belfast where he was born.

Gerard Michael Anderson, was a radio and television broadcaster for BBC Northern Ireland. Renowned for his unique style and distinctive sense of humour, Anderson often referred to himself on his show, as "Turkey Neck", "Puppet Chin" or "Golf Mike Alpha".

Across the Line (radio show)

Across the Line is a programme on BBC Radio Ulster. It broadcasts Monday, 9.30pm to 11.00 pm, presented by Gemma Bradley. It is also known for its popular website at www.bbc.co.uk/atl.

Nuala OLoan, Baroness OLoan Public figure in Northern Ireland, Police Ombudsman and parliamentarian

Nuala Patricia O'Loan, Baroness O'Loan, DBE, known between 2007 and 2009 as Dame Nuala O'Loan, is a noted public figure in Northern Ireland. She was the first Police Ombudsman from 1999 to 2007. In July 2009, it was announced that she was to be appointed to the House of Lords and she was so appointed in September 2009. In December 2010, National University of Ireland, Maynooth appointed her as Chairman of its Governing Authority. She is a columnist with The Irish Catholic.
