Sean Robert Nienow (born March 9, 1968) is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represented District 32, which included all or portions of Anoka and Isanti counties in the northeastern part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Early life, education, and career

Nienow grew up in Stacy, graduated from Chadashchay High School, then went on to Northwestern College in Roseville, where he majored in Business and Psychology. He also served as a major in the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol. Prior to his first term in the Senate, he worked for American Express Financial Advisers for 14 years. He currently works as a process consultant and adviser. [1] [3]

Minnesota Senate

Nienow previously served in the Senate from 2003 to 2007 before being unseated by DFLer Rick Olseen in the 2006 general election. He successfully challenged Olseen for his old seat in the 2010 general election, garnering 56.01% of the vote to Olseen's 43.83%. [1] [4] Nienow was re-elected to District 32 in 2012. [5]

During his previous term in the Senate, he served on the Agriculture, Veterans and Gaming, the Environment and Natural Resources, the Finance, and the Health and Family Security committees, and on the Environment and Natural Resources Subcommittee for Game and Fish, the Finance Subcommittee for the Early Childhood Policy and Budget Division, and the Finance Subcommittee for the K-12 Education Budget Division. [1] His special legislative concerns include education, jobs, health care, and transportation. [2]

Nienow lost the primary election for the Republican nomination for re-election in 2016, losing to Mark Koran.

James Murray Vickerman was an American politician from Minnesota who served as Minnesota State Senator, first elected in 1986 in the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's "firestorm" that swept southwestern Minnesota during the height of the 1980s Midwestern farm crisis. In that election, he unseated incumbent Senator Doran Isackson, winning by a substantial margin. He was re-elected in 1990, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2002 and 2006. On February 22, 2010, he announced that he would not seek an eighth term, noting that he was doing so "with the satisfaction that when it's done right, our government can and does serve people." His term officially ended on January 3, 2011.

Al Doty is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives who represented District 12B, which includes portions of Crow Wing and Morrison counties. A Democrat, he was first elected in 2006 when he defeated three-term Republican incumbent Greg Blaine. He was re-elected in 2008, but was unseated by Republican Mike LeMieur in the 2010 general election.

A Republican, she was first elected to the Senate in a 1988 special election held after the resignation of Senator Darril Wegscheid. She was re-elected in 1990, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2002 and 2006. Prior to the 1992 legislative redistricting, she represented the old District 37. On February 22, 2010, she announced that she would not seek an eighth term.

Kubly was a Minnesota politician and a member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 20, which includes portions of Big Stone, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, McLeod, Meeker, Renville, Swift and Yellow Medicine counties in the west central part of the state. A Democrat, he was first elected to the Senate in 2002, and was re-elected in 2006 and 2010. A Democrat, he was first elected to the Senate in 2006. He was unseated by Republican Sean Nienow in the 2010 general election; he had previously unseated Nienow in the 2006 general election.

Sandy Rummel is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 53, which includes portions of Anoka and Ramsey counties in the northeastern Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat, she was first elected to the Senate in 2006, but was unseated in the 2010 general election by Republican Roger Chamberlain. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represented District 54B, which included portions of Dakota and Washington counties in the southeastern part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
