Seascape is a residential skyscraper development in Auckland, New Zealand that is currently on hold. The skyscraper topped out in 2024. It is set to cost NZ$300 million to build. [1]
As of November 2022, half of the 221 apartments had been sold. [1]
In August 2024, Seascape’s main contractor, China Construction New Zealand, wrote to 25 sub-contractors to notify them that work on the skyscraper had been suspended and that their services were no longer required. By this stage, the building had already been structurally topped-out, leaving the interiors and facade incomplete. China Construction New Zealand claimed that the halting of site works was the result of a payment default by the project’s developer, the Shanghai-based Shundi Group. It is currently uncertain when and whether construction will resume. [2]
The Sky Tower is a telecommunications and observation tower in Auckland, New Zealand. Located at the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets within the city's CBD, it is 328 metres (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast, making it the second tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere, surpassed only by the Autograph Tower in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the 28th tallest tower in the world. Since its completion in 1997, the Sky Tower has become an iconic landmark in Auckland's skyline, due to its height and design. It was the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere from 1996 to 2022.

It is a mixed-use skyscraper, consisting of offices, hotels, conference rooms, observation decks, ground-floor shopping malls. Park Hyatt Shanghai is the tower's hotel component, comprising 174 rooms and suites occupying the 79th to the 93rd floors, which at the time of completion was the highest hotel in the world. It is now the third-highest hotel in the world after the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, which occupies floors 102 to 118 of the International Commerce Centre.
The Vero Centre is a skyscraper office tower in Auckland, New Zealand. Constructed in 2000 and designed by architect Peddle Thorp, after its construction it became the tallest building in New Zealand surpassing The Metropolis. The centre contains a health club and gymnasium, main entry public foyer, retail outlets in the 5 podium levels, and 32 office levels. It was New Zealand's tallest office tower until June 2019 when the Commercial Bay Commercial Bay (skyscraper) PwC Tower was topped out. It is also known for its 'halo' roof feature.
The NDG Auckland Centre is a proposed tower block consisting of a Ritz-Carlton hotel skyscraper in Auckland, New Zealand. If the tower is built, it would become the second tallest building in New Zealand at 209 metres (686 ft) and the second-tallest freestanding structure in Auckland after the Sky Tower.
The Pentominium was a planned 122-storey, 517 m (1,696 ft) supertall skyscraper located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Construction on the tower was halted in August 2011. It was designed by Andrew Bromberg of architects Aedas and funded by Trident International Holdings. The AED 1.46 billion construction contract was awarded to Arabian Construction Company (ACC).
Shanghai Tower is a 128-story, 632-meter-tall (2,073 ft) megatall skyscraper located in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai. It is the tallest building in China and the world's third-tallest building by height to architectural top. It is the tallest and largest LEED Platinum certified building in the world since 2015. It had the world's fastest elevators at a top speed of 20.5 meters per second until 2017, when it was surpassed by the Guangzhou CTF Finance Center, with its top speed of 21 meters per second. Designed by the international design firm Gensler and owned by the Shanghai Municipal Government, it is the tallest of the world's first triple-adjacent supertall buildings in Pudong, the other two being the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. Its tiered construction, designed for high energy efficiency, provides nine separate zones divided between office, retail and leisure use. The US-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat cites it as "one of the most sustainably advanced tall buildings in the world."
Goldin Finance 117, also known as China 117 Tower, is a supertall unfinished skyscraper in Xiqing District, Tianjin, China. The tower was topped out in 2015 at a height of 597 m. It has 128 storeys above ground, with 117 of them intended for housing, hotel, and commercial space, which provides the source of the building’s name. Designed by P&T Group, construction began in 2008 but was twice halted. As of November 2024, it remains unfinished and unoccupied.
The Ping An Finance Center is a 115-storey, 599.1 m (1,966 ft) supertall skyscraper in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The building was commissioned by Ping An Insurance and designed by the American architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. It was completed in 2017, and is the tallest building in Shenzhen, the 2nd tallest building in China and the 5th tallest building in the world. It also broke the record of having the highest observation deck in a building at 562 m (1,844 ft). It is the second largest skyscraper in the world by floor area after Azabudai Hills Main Tower in Tokyo, Japan.
Skyline Tower, previously known as Court Square City View Tower, is a residential skyscraper in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens in New York City. The building topped out in October 2019, surpassing One Court Square to become the tallest building in Queens at 762 feet (232 m). For two years, it was also the tallest building on Long Island; in October 2021, the building was surpassed in height when the Brooklyn Tower topped out. It was completed in July 2021.
PwC Tower at Commercial Bay is a mixed-use office tower and retail development in Auckland, New Zealand, completed and officially opened on 27 July 2020.
The Iconic Tower is a mixed-use supertall skyscraper in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt. With a total structural height of almost 400 metres (1,300 ft), it is both the tallest building and the tallest structure in Africa. Completed in 2020, it is the tallest residential building in New Zealand, surpassing the Metropolis, but is set to be overtaken in 2024 by the 187 m (614 ft) Seascape. The building overlooks Auckland city and the surrounding harbour at 178.7 metres (586 ft) and 57 floors in height.
