Seaton Sluice was a "station" on the wagonway from Hartley Pit at its terminus in the village of Seaton Sluice. The "station" was served intermittently by passenger trains between 1 May 1851 and April 1853 and wagonway, itself, was abandoned in the 1860s. [1]
In the 1910s, the North Eastern Railway attempted create a heavy rail link to Seaton Sluice through the construction of the Collywell Bay Branch Line but its construction was halted following the outbreak of the First World War and was never completed. [2]

The Blyth and Tyne Railway was a railway company in Northumberland, England, incorporated by Act of Parliament on 30 June 1852. It was created to unify the various private railways and waggonways built to carry coal from the Northumberland coalfield to Blyth and the River Tyne, which it took control of on 1st January 1853. Over time, the railway expanded its network to reach Morpeth (1857/8), North Seaton (1859), Tynemouth (1860/1), Newcastle upon Tyne (1864), and finally Newbiggin-by-the-Sea (1872). It became part of the much larger North Eastern Railway in 1874.

The Tyne and Wear Metrocars are a fleet of light rail vehicles manufactured by Metro-Cammell for the Tyne and Wear Metro in North East England between 1978 and 1981. For operation on Network Rail controlled tracks between Pelaw Junction and Sunderland, they are designated on TOPS as the Class 599. Most were refurbished between 2010 and 2015 by Wabtec Rail at Doncaster Works and are scheduled to be replaced by Class 555 rolling stock from 2023.
Seaton Valley is a civil parish at the south eastern corner of Northumberland, consisting of four villages lying between Cramlington, Blyth and Whitley Bay. The largest village is Seaton Delaval, while Seaton Sluice is on the coast; the other two are Seghill and New Hartley. It takes its name from Seaton Burn, a small river which flows through the area.

Collywell Bay was a railway station constructed in 1913–14 to serve a planned branch line terminating at Seaton Sluice. Although the line was built, the station did not open and the branch line was abandoned in 1931. The station was demolished in 1964 and remained in place despite never being opened. The station was to have been the terminus of the never opened Collywell Bay Branch Line, which, intending to promote Seaton Sluice as a resort, chose a more appealing name for their line and station.
Collywell Bay Branch Line was to have been an electric branch railway line in North East England from Monkseaton station to a planned station at Collywell Bay, with one intermediate station at Brierdene. The branch line was constructed between 1913 and 1914.
Darras Hall was a railway station on the Ponteland Railway, which ran between South Gosforth and Ponteland, with a sub-branch line to Darras Hall. The station served Darras Hall in Northumberland.
The Seaton Burn Wagonway was from 1826 to 1920 a partially horse-drawn and partially rope-operated industrial railway with a gauge of 4 ft 6 in near Newcastle upon Tyne.
Shotton Bridge railway station was a railway station built by the North Eastern Railway (NER) on the route of the Hartlepool Dock & Railway (HD&R) as part of a programme of works to modernise that line and link it with the Durham & Sunderland Railway (D&SR) so as to create a railway through-route between West Hartlepool and Sunderland. On opening, the station served the relatively new village of Shotton Colliery, which grew around the nearby Shotton Grange Colliery, as well as Old Shotton on the Stockton to Sunderland turnpike road, further to the east.
Ryhoperailway station was one of two railway stations to have served the village of Ryhope, Tyne & Wear. For much of its existence, it was served by the Durham–Sunderland and Hartlepool–Haswell–Sunderland lines.
