Sebastian Klinger (born October 28, 1993) is a Swiss cinematographer and producer. His critically acclaimed feature film Sew Torn premiered at South by Southwest Film Festival in March 2024 [1] .

Life and career

After graduating from high school, Klinger completed his education at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons with the feature film Zoe under the guidance of Emmy winner Heiner Gatzemeier and Oscar-nominated cinematographer Peter Indergand, SCS. [2] Since then, Klinger has worked internationally as a freelance cinematographer. With the winner of the Student Academy Award, Freddy Macdonald, he shot the feature Sew Torn, which premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2024. [1] The film is based on a 2019 short film of the same name, also shot by Klinger, which was acquired by Searchlight Pictures and qualified for an Academy Award. [3] [4]

Klinger enjoys a long-standing collaboration with Macdonald that has spanned numerous projects, including the award-winning short film The Father of Art and three music videos for three-time Grammy winner Fantastic Negrito. [5] Klinger's work has been recognized with the White Dolphin at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards [6] and earned him a place in the American Society of Cinematographers' ASC Vision Mentorship Program. [7] In addition to his work as a cinematographer, Klinger also works as a producer and regularly collaborates with the Swiss production company ORISONO, among others. [8] [9] .

<i>Teached</i> American film

TEACHED is a series of short films created by Kelly Amis and produced by her company, Loudspeaker Films. He was also named byVariety as one of the "10 Cinematographers to Watch" in 2019 for his work on Hotel Mumbai., a factual action drama depicting the Mumbai terror attacks, directed by long time collaborator Anthony Maras. The film stars Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi, Anupam Kher, Suhail Nayyar, Jason Isaacs, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Tilda Cobham-Hervey and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 7 September 2018 where Matthews was singled out for praise for his work on the film. Genesis 2.0 is a documentary film made by Swiss director and producer Christian Frei and Russian filmmaker Maxim Abugaev. The feature-length film was released in January 2018 in the World Cinema Documentary section at the Sundance Film Festival. At the center of the film is the woolly mammoth, an extinct and iconic species that today is surrounded by wishes and visions. On the one hand, the film documents the hazardous daily lives of a group of men who gather valuable mammoth tusks in a remote archipelago, the New Siberian Islands. Sew Torn is a 2024 thriller film written, directed and edited by Freddy Macdonald. In the US-Swiss co-production, which is based on a short film of the same name, Eve Connolly plays a seamstress on the verge of bankruptcy. The film tells the story of how she comes upon a drug deal gone bad and how her choices at the scene of the crime lead to drastically different outcomes along the way. Sew Torn premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March 2024.

Oddity is a 2024 Irish paranormal horror film written and directed by Damian Mc Carthy. It premiered at South by Southwest on March 8, 2024. It won the Audience Award in the Midnighter section at the festival.

Freddy Macdonald is a US-Swiss film director, screenwriter, and editor. He is the youngest directing fellow ever accepted to the American Film Institute. His critically acclaimed feature film debut Sew Torn premiered at South by Southwest Film Festival in March 2024.
