The second Anastasiades government was the government of Cyprus, forming the Council of Ministers. Sworn in on 1 March 2018, it consisted of members from President Nicos Anastasiades' Democratic Rally party (DISY) and independent technocrats. Many of its members carried over from the first Anastasiades government. [1] [2]

The Progressive Party of Working People is a Marxist–Leninist communist party in Cyprus.
The Democratic Rally is a Christian-democratic and liberal-conservative political party in Cyprus led by Annita Demetriou. The party was founded on 4 July 1976 by veteran politician Glafcos Clerides. Two leaders of the party have served as presidents of Cyprus, Clerides from 1993 until 2003 and Nicos Anastasiades from 2013 to 2023.
Nicos Anastasiades is a Cypriot politician and businessperson, who served as the seventh president of Cyprus from 2013 to 2023. Previously, he was the leader of Democratic Rally between 1997 and 2013 and served as Member of Parliament from Limassol between 1981 and 2013.
Cyprus–Egypt relations refer to bilateral relations between Cyprus and Egypt. Due to the strong cultural and historical ties between the two nations, Cyprus and Egypt today enjoy friendly, and strategic relations. Modern diplomatic relations between the two countries were established soon after Cyprus gained its independence in 1960, and are regarded as cordial. Cyprus has an embassy in Cairo and Egypt has an embassy in Nicosia.
Stavros Malas is a Cypriot geneticist, academic and politician who served in the government of Cyprus as health minister from 2011 to 2012. Previously, he was a Special Advisor to the European Commissioner for Health from 2008 to 2009.
Presidential elections were held in Cyprus on 17 February 2013. A runoff was held on 24 February 2013. Nicos Anastasiades of Democratic Rally won the election. The other candidates were Stavros Malas of the Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL); Praxoula Antoniadou of the United Democrats; Lakis Ioannou with the support of LASOK; Loukas Stavrou; ELAM's Giorgos Charalambous, Giorgos Lillikas of Movement for Social Democracy (EDEK); and independents Andreas Efstratiou, Makaria-Andri Stylianou, Kostas Kyriacou(Outopos) and Solon Gregoriou. Although the president Demetris Christofias was not term-limited, he did not seek re-election in 2013.
The 2012–2013 Cypriot financial crisis was an economic crisis in the Republic of Cyprus that involved the exposure of Cypriot banks to overleveraged local property companies, the Greek government-debt crisis, the downgrading of the Cypriot government's bond credit rating to junk status by international credit rating agencies, the consequential inability to refund its state expenses from the international markets and the reluctance of the government to restructure the troubled Cypriot financial sector.
A joint declaration was made on 11 February 2014 at the start of renewed negotiations to settle the Cyprus dispute. The following talks between Nicos Anastasiades, President of Cyprus, and Derviş Eroğlu, President of Northern Cyprus, were stalled in October 2014.
Tasos Mitsopoulos was a Cypriot politician. He served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2006 until 2013 for Democratic Rally. He then joined the cabinet of Nicos Anastasiades as Minister of Communications. In a cabinet reshuffle on 14 March 2014 he was appointed Minister of Defence.
Christos Stylianides is a Greek Cypriot politician who since September 13, 2023 serves as Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of Greece. From September 2021 to May 2023 served as Greece's first Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection. On June 26 he was elected Member of the Hellenic Parliament with the governing New Democracy Party (ND). He has previously served as the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management from 2014 until 2019. In 2014, he was also appointed by the European Council as the European Union's Ebola Coordinator. He was also elected as a Member of the European Parliament in the May 2014 European elections where he served until 31 October 2014.
Parliamentary elections were held in Cyprus on 22 May 2016 to elect 56 of the 80 Members of the House of Representatives.
The First Anastasiades government was the government of Cyprus, forming the Council of Ministers, in 2013–2018. Sworn in on 28 February 2013, it initially consisted of 13 ministers representing a governing coalition of President Nicos Anastasiades' Democratic Rally party (DISY) with DIKO and EVROKO parties. After the withdrawal of DIKO from the coalition in 2014, the government coalition consists only of DISY and EVROKO members, as well as other, independent technocrats. Following Anastasiades' victory in the 2018 election, the Second Anastasiades government was formed, with a very similar composition.
Presidential elections were held in Cyprus on 28 January 2018. As no candidate received a majority of the vote in the first round, a run-off was held on 4 February between the top two candidates, incumbent President Nicos Anastasiades of the Democratic Rally (DISY) and Stavros Malas of the Progressive Party of Working People. Anastasiades emerged as the winner with 55.99% of the vote.

Nikos Christodoulides is a Greek-Cypriot politician, former diplomat, and academic who has been the 8th and current President of Cyprus since 2023. He previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2018 to 2022 and Government Spokesman from 2014 to 2018, both under Nicos Anastasiades. A former member of the Democratic Rally, he has been an independent since the party ejected him in 2023 for entering the presidential race against their chosen candidate.
Ionas Nicolaou is a Cypriot lawyer and former Democratic Rally politician. He served as Minister of Justice and Public Order during two governments, but left office on 1 June 2019 following his resignation.
Annita Demetriou is a Greek-Cypriot politician, who serves as President of the Cypriot House of Representatives since June 2021, and as the President of the Democratic Rally (DISY) since March 2023. The latter role effectively designates her as the Leader of Opposition to the incumbent Christodoulides government.
Presidential elections were held in Cyprus on 5 February 2023. No candidate received a majority of the vote in the first round, so a runoff was held on 12 February. Incumbent president Nicos Anastasiades of the Democratic Rally (DISY), who won the presidential elections in 2013 and 2018, was ineligible to run due to the two-term limit mandated by the Constitution of Cyprus.
Michalis Hatzipantelas is a Greek Cypriot politician who served as the Health Minister of Cyprus in the government of Nicos Anastasiades. In the election of June 9, 2024, he was elected as an MEP for Cyprus with the centre-right party DISY.
