Yiannis Karousos (born 21 November 1979) is a Cypriot politician who served as Minister of Transport,Communications &Works in the Cabinet of Cyprus between 2019 and 2023. [1] He previously served as previously served as Mayor of Ayia Napa from 2013 to 2019. [1]
He graduated from the University of Surrey with a BSc in International Hospitality &Tourism Management in 2002,and with an MBA from ESSEC Business School &Cornell University in 2005. [2] [3]

The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) organised a public selection process to determine its entry for the contest. 11 songs competed in the national final,held on 16 February 2000,where a panel selected the winning song. The duo Voice,consisting of Christina Argyri and Alexandros Panayi,received the most votes with their song "Nomiza" and were selected to represent the nation in the contest. Voice performed 11th at the international contest and at the close of the voting process,finished in 21st place,receiving eight points.

From September 2021 to May 2023 served as Greece's first Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection. On June 26 he was elected Member of the Hellenic Parliament with the governing New Democracy Party (ND). He has previously served as the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management from 2014 until 2019. In 2014,he was also appointed by the European Council as the European Union's Ebola Coordinator. He was also elected as a Member of the European Parliament in the May 2014 European elections where he served until 31 October 2014.
