Helena Sofia (Helene) Schjerfbeck was a Finnish painter. A modernist painter, she is known for her realist works and self-portraits, and also for her landscapes and still lifes. Throughout her long life, her work changed dramatically beginning with French-influenced realism and plein air painting. It gradually evolved towards portraits and still life paintings. At the beginning of her career she often produced historical paintings, such as the Wounded Warrior in the Snow (1880), At the Door of Linköping Jail in 1600 (1882) and The Death of Wilhelm von Schwerin (1886). Historical paintings were usually the realm of male painters, as was the experimentation with modern influences and French radical naturalism. As a result, her works produced mostly in the 1880s did not receive a favourable reception until later in her life.
Her work starts with a dazzlingly skilled, somewhat melancholic version of late-19th-century academic realism…it ends with distilled, nearly abstract images in which pure paint and cryptic description are held in perfect balance.

Rentun Ruusu is a 2001 Finnish biographical film drama directed and written by Timo Koivusalo. The film is based on the life of Antti Yrjö Hammarberg who is still today a very popular singer in Finland. The film stars Martti Suosalo and Ilkka Koivula with Vexi Salmi as narrator. The film premiered in Helsinki on 12 January 2001. The name Rentun ruusu is from Irwin Goodman's song, and the album Rentun ruusu was his biggest and sold 125,000 copies.

The White Reindeer is a 1952 Finnish folk horror film directed by Erik Blomberg in his feature film debut. Blomberg wrote the screenplay with his wife Mirjami Kuosmanen, who also stars in the lead role. Based on pre-Christian Finnish mythology and Sami shamanism, the film is set in the Finnish Lapland and centers on a young woman, Pirita (Kuosmanen).
Mirjami Kuosmanen was a Finnish actress. She appeared in 24 films between 1937 and 1956. She was married to filmmaker Erik Blomberg. In 1952, she won the Jussi Award for Best Actress for her role in The White Reindeer

The Shooting Stars Awards are presented annually by the pan-European network organization European Film Promotion (EFP) to emerging actors from Europe. "Shooting Stars" is an initiative of the EFP for the international promotion and networking of promising up-and-coming actors from the 37 EFP member countries. Saulo Ismaro Haarla was a Finnish actor and theatre manager. He appeared in seven films between 1951–1961 and worked as a theatre manager in the Oulu City Theatre 1970–1971. Having been a heavy drinker, Haarla died in 1971 at the age of 40. His wife was the opera singer Helena Salonius, and they had two children, including the jazz musician Iro Haarla.
Juho Kuosmanen is a Finnish film director and screenwriter. He graduated from Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in 2014. Kuosmanen's graduation film called The Painting Sellers was nominated for five Finnish film Academy Awards.. The Painting Sellers won the first prize in Cinéfondation in Cannes Film Festival in 2010.
The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki is a 2016 biographical drama film directed by Juho Kuosmanen and written by Mikko Myllylahti and Kuosmanen. An international co-production between Finland, Sweden, and Germany, the film stars Jarkko Lahti, Oona Airola, and Eero Milonoff. It tells the true story of Olli Mäki, the famous Finnish boxer who had a shot at the 1962 World Featherweight title.

The Jussi Award for Best Actress was an award presented annually at the Jussi Awards, the premier film industry event in Finland, between 1944 and 2022. In the spring of 2022, Filmiaura's board introduced the gender-neutral Jussi Award for Best Leading Performance, which started from the 76th Jussi Awards in 2023. The 1st Jussi Awards ceremony was held in 1944, with Ansa Ikonen winning the first Jussi Award for Best Actress for her performance in Vaivaisukon morsian, and Seidi Haarla was the last winner in Compartment No. 6 at the 75th Jussi Awards in 2022.
