Phish is an American rock band formed in Burlington, Vermont, in 1983. The band is known for musical improvisation, extended jams, blending of genres, and a dedicated fan base. The band consists of guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman, and keyboardist Page McConnell, all of whom perform vocals, with Anastasio being the lead vocalist.

The album title is a play on Peter Frampton's classic live album Frampton Comes Alive!.

Composed in 1987, the thesis included an essay piece and collection of songs relating an epic tale from the band's fictional land of Gamehendge.
The Grand Pecking Order is the only album by American rock band Oysterhead, released on October 2, 2001. The album was recorded in guitarist Trey Anastasio's Barn recording studio. Oysterhead was intended to be a single performance, but the project spawned this album and a mini-tour in support of the album.
70 Volt Parade was Trey Anastasio's backing band in 2005, formed after the breakup of Phish in August of the previous year. After writing and recording new material in late 2004 and early 2005, Anastasio began auditioning various musicians for his next project. This band essentially replaced Anastasio's first backup band that was together in different forms from 1999 to 2004. 70 Volt Parade originally included Peter Chwazik on bass, Skeeto Valdez on drums, Les Hall on guitar and keyboards, and Ray Paczkowski also on keyboards. In 2006, with Les Hall out of the lineup, and a new musical focus for Anastasio, the 70 Volt Parade name was dropped.
Trey Anastasio is an album by the guitarist and composer Trey Anastasio. It was released on April 30, 2002 by Elektra Records and recorded at "The Barn", his studio near Westford, Vermont. Some of the songs included are evolved, but much less experimental, versions of tracks on Anastasio's first solo album, One Man's Trash, released in 1998. The tracks included were written by Anastasio, along with Tom Marshall, Tony Markellis, Russ Lawton and Scott Herman.

Shine is the fourth solo studio album from Trey Anastasio, and his first release since the breakup of Phish in August 2004. Included in this release is new material written by Anastasio in late 2004 and early '05. The album also marks the first release by Anastasio apart from Elektra Records, as he has signed on with Columbia Records for this album. Shine was released on November 1, 2005, and was followed by a nationwide tour beginning in Minneapolis and ending in Los Angeles. It was also released in the DualDisc format.

Since 1998, Trey Anastasio, best known from Phish, has toured and recorded with several backing musicians, including several side-projects organized and led by the guitarist and composer. Fans commonly referred to them as Trey Anastasio Band, or TAB for short. In spring 2005, after the break up of Phish the previous fall, Trey formed 70 Volt Parade. This moniker only lasted a short time, as he began using the name Trey Anastasio Band for this group the following year. In 2008, he toured with members of the older band as "Classic TAB", and then two years later, he began again using the name Trey Anastasio Band for this group. Through its history, Trey Anastasio's band has gone through many different configurations, ranging from a trio to a dectet.
Bar 17 is Trey Anastasio's fifth solo studio album. It was the first release from his newly formed record label, Rubber Jungle Records. Work began on Bar 17 shortly after the breakup of Phish, but had to temporarily suspend the project due to the absence of producer Bryce Goggin. During the long hiatus in the middle of the album's production, Anastasio flew to Atlanta to record his 2005 album Shine, which was very pop-oriented and different from Anastasio's normal musical style. Bar 17 contains songs written over roughly three years by Anastasio, from the spring of 2003 to the spring of 2006.

The Horseshoe Curve is entirely instrumental apart from three cries of "Burlap Sack & Pumps" on track 3 of the same name. This album features the ten-member dectet that toured from 2002 to 2004.
