Seja Vogel (pronounced say-ah) (born 21 May 1981) is a German-Australian musician who was a member of Brisbane bands Sekiden and Regurgitator. [1]
Vogel was born on 21 May 1981 in Kassel, West Germany. She grew up in Stuttgart before moving to Australia with her family when she was seven years old. She attended a Steiner School and often credits her creativity to her early Steiner Education. Vogel learnt violin and piano at an early age, and became interested in synthesizers after hearing bands like The Cars, Devo and Kraftwerk in high school.
Formed in 1998, Sekiden released two albums and two EPs. The band was known for high-energy live performances and they toured extensively throughout Australia, Canada, Japan and the USA, touring with bands such as the Zoobombs. Sekiden released music through Modular Records, Australian independent labels Redline Records and Valve, [2] Japanese label Bad News, [3] and the American Boompa! label. [4]
Vogel joined iconic genre-mashers Regurgitator in 2007 as a touring member and also contributed to their studio album Love and Paranoia that was recorded in Brazil. Vogel also played in the backing bands of Spod, Heinz Reigler, Ben Salter and David McCormack. [5]
Vogel later recorded and performed under her own name for the album We Have Secrets But Nobody Cares , released through Sydney record label Rice Is Nice on 27 March 2010. [1] [5] Vogel toured widely following the release of the album and supported acts such as Sarah Blasko, Goldfrapp and Warpaint.
In between touring and recording, Vogel started a textile label named 'Pul(sew)idth' that produces miniature felt replicas of instruments made by Vogel herself. [6] Alongside her own music, she is currently writing a rap album with Quan Yeomans of Regurgitator.[ citation needed ]
At the end of 2016, Seja started her podcast HearSej where she talks to musicians and other creatives about their careers in a casual and intimate conversation. Some guests include Kevin Mitchell of Jebediah, Sarah Blasko, Megan Washington and Benjamin Law.
Regurgitator are an Australian rock band from Brisbane, Queensland, formed in late 1993 by Quan Yeomans on lead vocals, guitar and keyboards; Ben Ely on bass guitar, keyboards and vocals; and Martin Lee on drums. Their debut studio album, Tu-Plang was released in May 1996; it was followed by Unit in November 1997 which was certified triple platinum. Unit won five categories at the ARIA Music Awards of 1998: Album of the Year, Best Alternative Album, Producer of the Year, Engineer of the Year (Magoo) and Best Cover Art. Their third album, ...Art was released in August 1999.

Valve Records is an Australian record label, releasing a wide range of local and international alternative artists. The label was created by Paul Curtis in 1994 to support the local bands he was managing. Regurgitator, a successful band he manages, however, would not see a release on Valve until 2003–2004 after a split with Warner EastWest and the completion of the first Band in a Bubble project in Melbourne's Federation Square.
Spod are an Australian indie, electro band, often styled as SPOD, which formed in 1995. It is also the pseudonym of the band's mainstay member, Brent Griffin, whether he is performing solo or with other members. They have released two albums, Taste the Radness (2003) and Superfrenz.

Love and Paranoia is the sixth studio album by Australian rock band Regurgitator. It was released in Australia on 15 September 2007 and was inspired by 1980s rock. As the album's title track suggests, several songs are unguardedly romantic, while others touch on the paranoia, fear and resulting insularity in these politically conservative days. The majority of the album was recorded mid-2007 in Brazil. The album is also the first to feature new member Seja Vogel who provides keyboards and vocals.

Sekiden were an Australian three-piece pop band formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 1998 by Simon Graydon on lead guitar and vocals, Mirko Vogel on drums and his sister Seja on keyboards and lead vocals. They released two studio albums, Junior Fiction (2003) and Sound Instincts (2006), before disbanding in the following year. Seja Vogel was a touring member of Regurgitator from 2007 to 2009 and then worked as a solo artist to issue two albums, We Have Secrets But Nobody Cares (2010) and All Our Wires (2013).
We Have Secrets But Nobody Cares is the debut album from Brisbane singer and keyboardist Seja Vogel. The album was released in Australia on 27 March 2010 by Rice Is Nice and Other Tongues; and in the United States on 11 May 2010. Vogel used fourteen different analogue synthesizers on the album.

Sarah Elizabeth Blaskow, known professionally as Sarah Blasko, is an Australian singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. From April 2002, Blasko developed her solo career after fronting Sydney-based band, Acquiesce, between the mid-1990s and 2001. She had performed under her then married name, Sarah Semmens, and, after leaving Acquiesce, as Sorija in a briefly existing duo of that name. As a solo artist Blasko has released six studio albums, The Overture & the Underscore, What the Sea Wants, the Sea Will Have – which peaked at No. 7 on the ARIA Albums Chart, As Day Follows Night – which reached No. 5, I Awake – which made No. 9, Eternal Return, and Depth of Field.

Seekae was a Sydney-based electronic music group. They formed the group under the name Commander Keen in reference to the early-'90s MS-DOS video game series, later changing the name to an elongated version of Commander Keen's initials (CK) after realising the name was taken by a Scottish band. They released their debut album The Sound of Trees Falling on People in 2008 and released the follow-up +Dome in 2011 and the EP 3 in 2012. The band released their third album The Worry in September 2014. The group parted ways in 2016, following a final show supporting The Jesus and Mary Chain.
