Semiray Ahmedova (born 21 April 1981 in Sofia,Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian-born Luxembourgish architect and politician of The Greens. She served in the Chamber of Deputies from 2019 to 2023.
Born in 1981 in the Bulgarian capital Sofia,she became a citizen of Luxembourg in 2004. [1] At the age of 9,she fled the communist regime of the People's Republic of Bulgaria with her parents. She attended school in Dudelange and later studied architecture and urban planning in Brussels. [2] She went back to Luxembourg and worked in an architectural firm,later as an advisor for sustainable building at myenergy agency,before she joined the Ministry of Spatial Planning. [3] She describes herself as a "Dudelange girl" (Diddelenger Meedchen in Luxembourgish). [4]
Ahmedova joined The Greens party in 2017. [3] She failed to win a seat in the Dudelang municipal council in the 2017 communal elections. [5] She stood in the 2018 general election in the South constituency but failed to win a seat,since she was in ninth position on The Greens' list and the party won three seats only. [6] However,she later replaced resigning deputy Roberto Traversini [7] and became the youngest deputy of Luxembourg on October 8,2019. [8]
Ahmedova's political work focuses on energy and environmental policy,as well as on fighting the rising housing prices in Luxembourg. [4]
Luxembourg is a parliamentary representative democratic monarchy,whereby the prime minister is the head of government,and the multi-party system. Executive power is under the constitution of 1868,as amended,exercised by the government,by the grand duke and the Council of Government (cabinet),which consists of a prime minister and several other ministers. Luc Frieden is a Luxembourgish politician and lawyer who serves as the 25th prime minister of Luxembourg since November 2023. A member of the Christian Social People's Party (CSV),he held numerous cabinet positions in the Luxembourgish government between 1998 and 2013,notably serving as the minister for the Treasury and Budget during the transition from the Franc to the Euro and as minister of Finance during the European debt crisis. Frieden was president of the Luxembourgish Chamber of Commerce and Eurochambres,the business federation of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Xavier Bettel is a Luxembourgish lawyer and politician who serves as the 14th deputy prime minister of Luxembourg and as the minister for Foreign Affairs since 2023. He served as the 24th prime minister of Luxembourg from 2013 to 2023. He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies (1999–2013) and Mayor of Luxembourg City (2011–2013).
François Bausch is a Luxembourgish politician of the Greens who served as Second Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg from 2019 to 2023. He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1989 to 1992,from 1994 to 2013 and from 2023 to 2024. Before entering the government in 2013 was leader of the Greens in the Chamber.

Djuna Bernard is a Luxembourgish politician from Déi Gréng. She was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from December 2018 to 2023,and again since 2024. A candidate in the 2018 legislative election,she was not directly elected but replaced Sam Tanson when she became Minister for Housing and Culture,making her the youngest deputy in the Chamber at 26 years old. She stood as a candidate for the co-presidency of The Greens in January 2019,and subsequently won in March that year and currently serves with Meris Šehović. Bernard and Šehovićwere both re-elected unopposed in March 2021.
General elections were held in Luxembourg on 8 October 2023 to elect all 60 seats of the Chamber of Deputies.
