Somaliland, officially the Republic of Somaliland, is a de facto sovereign state in the Horn of Africa, still considered internationally to be part of Somalia. Marodi Jeh is an administrative region (gobol) in western Somaliland. It is the most populous region of the country. It is bordered by Awdal to the west, Sahil to the north, Togdheer to the east and Ethiopia to the south. Marodi Jeh was created by splitting the previously existing region (gobolka) Woqooyi Galbeed in two, the other part being Sahil. In 2007 the region of Woqooyi Galbeed was renamed to Maroodi Jeex. Woqooyi Galbeed was thus much larger than Marodi Jeh.

The hills were dubbed Naasa Hablood due to their distinctive conical shape and resemblance to thelarchic breast buds.

They contain some of the earliest known cave paintings of domesticated African aurochs in the Horn of Africa. Laas Geel's rock art is estimated to date to circa 3,500-2,500 BC.

She was the country representative for Progressio and also an active campaigner to open up democracy for women in the country for over 25 years. She is running for a seat in parliament from Maroodi Jeex in this years elections, to be held on May 31,2021.

Sahil is an administrative region (gobol) in northern Somaliland with the port city of Berbera as its capital. It was separated from Woqooyi Galbeed and became a province in 1991. In 1998, the Sheikh District of Togdheer was incorporated into Sahil region. The region has a long coastline facing the Gulf of Aden to the north. Sahil borders Awdal to the northwest, Maroodi Jeex to the southwest, Togdheer to the south and Sanaag to the east.

The Governor of Maroodi Jeex is the chief executive of the Somaliland region of Maroodi Jeex, leading the region's executive branch. Governors of the regions is appointed to the office by the Somaliland president. The current governor of Maroodi Jeex is Mahamed Cilmi Ahmed Mahamuud.

Toon is a town in the Maroodi Jeex region of Somaliland. Situated in Salahlay District, it is well-known for being the birth place of the Isaaq Sultanate, a Somali Sultanate that ruled much of Somaliland from the mid-18th to late-19th centuries.

Mandera is a town in the Maroodi Jeex province of Somaliland. Situated in the Hargeisa District, it is located northeast by road from Hargeisa and southwest of Berbera.
