Steve Adkins (born April 29, 1979) is an American retired professional wrestler better known by his ring name Seth Skyfire best known working in the Ohio Valley Wrestling and WWE from 2003 to 2008.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Skyfire made his professional wrestling debut in 1997. He began his career in Birmingham-based Global Championship Wrestling as "Sinister" Seth Stevens. A top ranked wrestler during his time there, [3] he won the GCW Heavyweight Championship, GCW Intercontinental Championship [4] , GCW Television Championship and GCW Tag Team Championship with Mason Fury. Skyfire left the promotion after being defeated by "Maddog" Dan Sawyer in a "Loser Leaves GCW match". [5]
He would make his debut for Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2003 after signing a developmental contract with WWE.
On January 10, 2004, Skyfire and Mike Mondo were chosen to represent OVW at Ring Of Honor's The Battle Lines Are Drawn supercard held in Wilmington, Ohio. [6]
Skyfire lost to Chris Masters on WWE's Monday Night Raw on April 11, 2005. [7]
On October 12, 2005 Skyfire and Chet The Jet defeated "The Blonde Bombers" (Chad and John Toland) to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship [8] which they would drop to Mike Mizanin and Chris Cage on February 8, 2006. On March 8, 2006 Skyfire defeated Aaron "The Idol" Stevens to win the OVW Television Championship. [9] [10]
In July 2006, Skyfire and CM Punk defeated Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard and the Neighborhoodie) to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship, making Skyfire a double champion. [11] They lost the titles to Deuce 'n Domino (Deuce Shade and "Domino" Cliff Compton) in August 2006. [12] Later that same month, Skyfire lost the OVW TV Championship to Charles Evans.
In October 2006, Skyfire wrestled in a mask as El Aero Fuego. He regained the Television Championship from Charles Evans on November 15, 2006. On January 3, 2007, Skyfire dropped the TV Championship to Eddie Kraven. The title was subsequently defended Bad Kompany (Eddie Kraven, Shawn Osborne and Mike Kruel) under the Freebird Rule. Weeks later, he was one of seven developmental wrestlers released by WWE. [13]
Also during 2007, Skyfire worked for Ring Of Honor and the independent circuit in Alabama. This included a brief return to Global Championship Wrestling [5] where he was GCW Heavyweight Champion.
After WWE ceased affiliations with Ohio Valley Wrestling in February 2008, Skyfire would later retire from wrestling that year. Between 2013 and 2017, Skyfire made sporadic appearances for Millenium Pro Wrestling based in Moorpark, California.
Skyfire returned to school to pursue a career in practical special effects. He later became a writer, director working on several projects including Hollywood Paranormal Detectives and did work on the Disney series The Mandalorian . Adkins is married with two children. [14]
