Sevda Shishmanova (born June 2, 1962, in Razgrad) is a Bulgarian producer, director and journalist of Bulgarian Turkish origin.

Education

Shishmanova studied Bulgarian Philology at Sofia University and documentary film directing at Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts. [1]

Career

Since 1992, she has worked on local and international television and radio assignments for Bulgarian National Television and Economedia Press Group including in Afghanistan, Pakistan, northern Iraq, Macedonia and Turkey.

She is the producer of the award-winning [2] Bulgarian series Undercover for which she was nominated as best producer [3] and the author of more than fifteen documentaries.

In 1996, along with cameraman Hirsto Obreshkov, Shishmanova was arrested in Diyarbakir and interrogated for two days. [4]

From 2010 until 2017 she was program director of BNT 1.

The Bulgarian National Television or BNT (БНТ), stylized as ·Б·Н·Т· since 2018, is a public television broadcaster of Bulgaria. BNT was founded in 1959 and started broadcasting on December 26 of the same year. It was the first television service to broadcast on the territory of Bulgaria.

Bulgaria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Let Me Cry" written by Dani Milev and Elina Gavrilova. The song was performed by Mariana Popova. Bulgaria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Lorraine" written by Vesselin Vesselinov-Eko and Orlin Pavlov. The song was performed by the band Kaffe. The Bulgarian broadcaster Bulgarian National Television (BNT) organised the national final Bŭlgarskata pesen v „Evroviziya 2005” in order to select the Bulgarian entry for the 2005 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. 24 entries were selected to participate in the national final which consisted of two shows: a semi-final and a final, held on 22 January 2005 and 12 February 2005, respectively. The top twelve songs of the semi-final as determined by an eleven-member jury panel qualified to the final. In the final, public televoting exclusively selected "Lorraine" performed by Kaffe as the winning entry with 76,590 votes.

Hacho Kirilov Boyadzhiev was a Bulgarian television and film director.

Stoyan Radev is a Bulgarian theatre and film director. He graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art in 1998. He lives and works in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Undercover was a Bulgarian crime drama television series produced by Bulgarian National Television that premiered on BNT 1 on 17 April 2011. On 20 March 2016, the fifth season premiered on BNT 1. It was announced that it was the final season of the series.

Jordan Todorov is a Bulgarian documentary filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and journalist. He graduated with an MA in Film Studies from the Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2003.

The film was named on the shortlist for Bulgarian's entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards, but it was not selected. It was considered again when Mother was disqualified, however, it was not selected.

Petya of My Petya is a 2021 Bulgarian drama film directed by Alexander Kossev and written by Valentina Angelova & Nelly Dimitrova. Starring Alexandra Kostova, Alena Vergova, Yasen Atanasov and Martin Metodiev. It is inspired by the life and work of the poet Petya Dubarova. The film was named on the shortlist for Bulgarian's entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards, but it was not selected. It was considered again when Mother was disqualified, however, it was not selected.
