Severe Dementia is a Bangladeshi metal band formed in Dhaka in January 2004. Their initial name was 666. [1] They are considered to be one of the first death metal band from Bangladesh. They are a pioneering band of the East Bengal Extreme Metal scene. Their EP Epitaph of Plassey is widely regarded as one of most influential death metal record in Bangladesh. History

In 2004, Ahmed Shawki and his friend Saimum Hasan Nahian created a band named 666. It was a bold approach because the band culture of Dhaka was not very much introduced to extreme metal musics like death metal then. Gradually this band became a pioneer of death metal music of Bangladesh. During 2012–2016, the band was inactive because its vocal Ahmed Shawki left the country and went to Australia.[ citation needed ] Since then, Riasat Azmi [4] [ failed verification ] is serving as vocalist of this band.[ citation needed ]

Severe Dementia draws its lyrical themes from ancient and historical events which created a major impact on certain nations and the human race. Their songs provide brutality, blistering speed and technical proficiency in composing. They also introduced aggressive drum blasts, guttural growls and screams and pure aggression rendered guitar lines in their tracks, which were very rare and uncommon in the history of Bangladesh's rock-metal music genre. Albums and performances

In February 2007, Severe Dementia signed a deal with Demonstealer Records (India) to release an EP in a split album Rise of the Eastern Blood with Demonic Resurrection (India), [6] [ failed verification ] Dusk (Pakistan) and Helmksey (Singapore). The conceptual EP is entitled as Epitaph of Plassey with 5 continuous songs based on the historical Battle of Plassey between the British East India Company and the Bengal Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah in 1757. Severe Dementia undertook a tour in India in April 2007 as being the first ever underground band from Bangladesh to play overseas. The opening of the album took place at the last concert of the tour on 8 April 2007, at Razzberry Rhinoceros, Mumbai. The band played in two shows at Mumbai and Pune. [5]

Their next album is going to be in theme of ancient Sumerian mythology.

On 9 July 2017 the band revisited India while performing at Kolkata Death Fest (3rd edition) at Jadavpur university Triguna Sen Auditorium, Kolkata. The show was powered by the Lizard & Skin Tattoos & Hellion Distro. [7] [ failed verification ]

Love Runs Blind, often abbreviated as LRB, was a Bangladeshi rock band formed in 1991 in Chittagong City by Ayub Bachchu. They are one of the most successful bands of Bangladesh. Since their formation, they have released thirteen studio albums, one live album and two compilation albums. They have also appeared in several mixed albums. They are considered to be among the pioneers of Bangladeshi hard rock music. They were originally formed as a hard rock band, but have experimented with many subgenres of rock and roll.

Souls is a Bangladeshi rock band formed in Chittagong in 1972 by singer Tajul Imam, guitarists Sajed ul Alam and Momtazul Hoque Lulu, bassist Subrata Barua Ronny, and drummer and keyboardist Ahmed Newaz. Their albums include Super Souls (1982), College Er Corridorey (1985), Manush Matir Kachakachi (1986), East and West (1988).

Shahabuddin Ahmed is a Bangladeshi painter. He was awarded the Chevalier De L'ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres by the Ministry of Cultural Affair and Communication of France in 2014. He was the recipient of Independence Day Award by the Government of Bangladesh in 2000. His paintings are displayed in galleries like Olympic Museum, Lausanne, Switzerland, Municipal Museum of Bourg-en-Bresse, France, Seoul Olympic Museum, South Korea, the National Taiwan Museum and Bangladesh National Museum.

Shahbag or Shahbagh is a major neighbourhood and a police precinct or thana in Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is also a major public transport hub. It is a junction between two contrasting sections of the city—Old Dhaka and New Dhaka—which lie, respectively, to its south and north. Aurthohin is a Bangladeshi rock band formed in Dhaka in 1998 by Saidus Sumon, Tonmoy Rahman, Ponir and Rumi Rahman. They are considered to be one of the pioneering band in Bangladeshi alternative rock music. They have released 7 studio albums and also have appeared in some mixed albums. Though they were formed as a rock band they have experimented with genres like progressive metal and groove metal. Sumon's interests in slap bass also led the band's sound into funk-rock.

Warfaze is a Bangladeshi heavy metal band formed on 6 June 1984 in Dhaka by Meer, Helal, Naimul, Bappy, and Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal. They are considered to be one of the pioneering heavy metal band in Bangladesh. Multiple changes have taken place in membership after its founding since 1984. Since their inception, the band has released eight albums, including seven studio albums and one compilation album. In addition, they have released several singles in band mixed albums and one Lalon Tribute album.

Bangladeshi heavy metal or Bangla heavy metal was originated from the evolution of British and American heavy metal bands of 1980s. Bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica and Megadeth have had the greatest influences on Bangladeshi heavy metal musicians. Other 1970s bands to influence are bands like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Motörhead. The first bands to play heavy metal in Bangladesh were bands like Warfaze and Rockstrata. The most prominent era for heavy metal movement was between early 1990s to early 2000s. Warfaze, Rockstrata, Aces and In Dhaka are often considered as the "big four founders of heavy metal". Other 2000s metal bands are bands like Artcell, Aurthohin, Cryptic Fate, Powersurge, Mechanix, Metal Maze, Vibe and Stentorian. Alternative bands like Nemesis, Arbovirus and Black also played some alternative metal songs over the years. Warfaze, Artcell and Aurthohin together are the most popular rock/metal trio of Bangladesh.
