Sevinj Nurugizi (Template:Lang-az; born August 22, 1964) is a children's writer from Azerbaijan. She has been a member of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers since 2001 and a member of the Azerbaijan Journalists Union since 1999. [1] [2]

Biography

Sevinj Nurugizi Imanova was born on August 22, 1964, in Baku. [1]

In 1981, she enrolled at the M.F. Akhundov Institute of Russian Language and Literature, graduating with distinction in 1986. [1] She began her career as a teacher of Russian language and literature at a secondary school in the Şelli-Garadaghly village of Aghdam District. [1]

In March 2003, she became deputy editor-in-chief of Madaniyyat, a newspaper under the Ministry of Culture of the Azerbaijan Republic. [1] Beginning in January 2006, she directed the creative team for the children's magazines Jirtdan and Umid at the Minamedia publishing house. She was also the editor and presenter of the Chokhbilmish children's program on Ijtimai Radio, which aired six days a week. Starting in 2007, she held positions as editor-in-chief and head of the Children's Literature department at the Tahsil and Aspoligraf publishing houses. [1]

Involvement in literature

Her literary and journalistic articles have been widely published; some of her work has been translated into English and Russian. Her work for children often involves narratives which are relatable to the lives of younger people. Her theatrical play Revenge, which addresses the events in Garabagh, the experiences of refugees from the region, and the impact of war, was staged at the Hagverdiyev Drama Theatre of Aghdam. Her theatrical play Dolls was staged at the State Puppet Theatre of Salyan. [1]
