Sexecutioner

Last updated

Sexecutioner is a supporting character in the band Gwar, played originally by Mike Delaney, and finally by Chuck Varga from 1989 until 1995–6, with special appearances in 2000 (the You're All Worthless and Weak concert), 2012, and 2014. He sang lead on his trademark song, "Sexecutioner", and "Ragnarok".

Gwar American band

Gwar, often stylized as GWAR, is an American heavy metal band formed in Richmond, Virginia in 1984, composed of and operated by a frequently rotating line-up of musicians, artists and filmmakers collectively known as Slave Pit Inc. Following the death of frontman and lead singer Dave Brockie in 2014, the group has continued without any of its founding members.

Youre All Worthless and Weak live album by Gwar

You're All Worthless And Weak is the first live album by the heavy metal band Gwar. It was recorded at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, on Halloween. It features the return of Sexecutioner and Sleazy P. Martini, as well as Techno Destructo and his brother Bozo Destructo. The show was one of the last appearances by Slymenstra Hymen, though she is not heard. At first, it was available exclusively to members of the Total Slavery Fan Club but it was later made available to the general public through the band's official website. The album has since gone out of print. The Gwarnage Campaign is made up of videos taken from this show, with only a few tracks taken from other concerts of the tour. The title is taken from a line in the film Animal House.

Trademark look or signature look is the characteristic clothes or other distinguishing signs used by a certain character or performer, making the person more recognizable by the audience. Politicians may also have trademark signs, such as the suit of American President Barack Obama or the Merkel-Raute of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. It can also refer to the clothes of a certain subculture.

There are conflicting origin stories of the Sexecutioner - the Slave Pit Funnies (from 1989–90) suggest that he was summoned in an ancient ritual by Oderus, and was raised from infancy to become Scumdog material. The song "Sexecutioner" bluntly states that he is from France (hence the French accent). Earlier incarnations of Gwar's website (pre-dating 2004, when the website underwent a drastic overhaul) state that he was from the planet Eros, in the Genital V System, and that even he doesn't know his own age.

During his time with the band his stage role was similar to that of a slave, in that he assisted Oderus Urungus in fighting the band's enemies. Unlike the slaves, he was treated as a member of the band (with a similar role as Slymenstra Hymen).

Slymenstra Hymen was Gwar's dancer and occasional singer portrayed by Danielle Stampe. She is perhaps best known for fire dancing, usually during the song "Horror of Yig." On the tours for the Carnival of Chaos album, she danced to the song "Sammy," because "Horror of Yig" often followed the Slymenstra-Techno wedding section, which required at least two costume changes for Stampe; as such, the fire dance was set to "Sammy," which required none.

Varga, after designing the most frequently seen Sexecutioner mask (the first full head mask for the band), worked with Dave Brockie on Oderus' mask, which has remained largely unchanged since its inception in late 1989.

Chuck Varga remains a member of the Slave Pit, the group behind Gwar, though does not work with them (Varga, along with Hunter Jackson, Dave Brockie and Don Drakulich were the founders of Slave Pit). He retired from touring in 1995 (Varga was the oldest member of Slave Pit Inc., and touring became physically stressful, especially on his knees), but worked part-time until 2001. For a number of years following his departure, he worked with Don Drakulich (Sleazy P. Martini), who had also retired from touring, in a special effects company.

Techno Destructo is a former character in the American comedy metal band Gwar, depicted as their long-term archnemesis. The character was portrayed and created by Gwar co-founder Hunter Jackson.

Dave Brockie Canadian musician

David Murray Brockie was a Canadian musician, and best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Gwar, in which he performed as Oderus Urungus. He performed as a bassist and lead singer in bands such as Death Piggy, X-Cops, and the Dave Brockie Experience (DBX), and starred in the comedy/horror TV sitcom Holliston as Oderus Urungus. Brockie died in 2014 of a heroin overdose.

Sleazy P. Martini is a character played by Don Drakulich in the theatrical heavy metal band Gwar. He wears two gigantic gold necklaces, one with a dollar symbol, and one with a skull and crossbones symbol, a large pompadour, and a bright purple suit, and is often seen wielding a sawed-off shotgun. In the Gwar mythos, Sleazy is Gwar's manager and the person who taught them to play their instruments, along with getting them addicted to crack.

According to Drakulich (who answered this question on Bohab Central, a prominent Gwar fansite, on January 13, 2007), the term "bohab" was, in part, invented by Varga - initially, it was a nickname for a socially inept friend of Hunter Jackson's (named Bob), invented by Dave Musel; after hearing him say this (he was in the room when this happened), "He instantly shortened it by getting rid of the Slohab then coined as part of the Slave-Pit lexicon to refer to anyone who is socially awkward, who drones on about trivial matters while boring all those around him. In particular it refers to those who are tedious talkers who refuse to let bored body language and avoidance by others stop their persistently friendly overtures - now known as bohabery. Bohabs are not losers who chose to be loners. Bohabs are losers who are persistently friendly." [1]

According to GWAR's website, The Sexecutioner was to return for the 2012 GWARBQ. [2] It was unknown if this marked a permanent return of the character, or if he would be portrayed by Varga. The Sexecutioner did appear at the fifth GWARBQ after the death of Dave Brockie, taking vocals of one song, "Sexecutioner". It is currently unclear how permanent this return is.

Dave Brockie Experience

The Dave Brockie Experience or DBX was formed of three of the then-current members of Heavy metal band Gwar. The band was composed of David "Oderus Urungus" Brockie (vocals/bass), Brad "Jizmak Da Gusha" Roberts (drums), and Mike "Balsac the Jaws of Death" Derks (Guitar). DBX was a pet project of Gwar and showed some of their earlier punk roots from the "Death Piggy" era. At their shows they played some original DBX songs as well as some tunes from Death Piggy, Gwar, and X-Cops. The band enjoyed a following mostly made up of Gwar fans. Dave Brockie hinted at the possibility of the band's breakup in the past due to the exhausting nature of lower-budget touring. In February 2008, several sources reported that the band would be touring as an opening act for the reunited Green Jellÿ. Dave Brockie stated, on his website, that this was not the case and there were no official discussions concerning the tour.
