Seyed Ali Mirlohi Falavarjani [1] [2] is an Iranian professor of Arabic literature, now retired from the University of Isfahan. He was born in 1942 in the city of Falavarjan, the province of Isfahan, Iran. He is the founder of the Islamic Azad University of Falavarjan, Isfahan, [3] and was its president from 1985 to 1992. This branch of the university now has in excess of 4,000 students across more than 10 fields of study. It has a high number of female students. [1]

Biography

Seyed Ali Mirlohi is son of -Hojjat al-Eslam- Solomon Mirlohi, a popular and respected religious figure in Falavarjan who died in 1987. He was educated at Minoo elementary school until 1952, and then to seminary school of Fiqh level with masters such as Ayatollah Sheikh Hassan Emami. Later in his life, Mirlohi went to Qom seminary, and participated in Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Borujerdi's classes.

Mirlohi earned his diploma in 1964, and entered Tehran University in the Faculty of Theology. [4]

Career

From 1974 to 1978, Mirlohi was assistant professor at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Between 1979 and his retirement in 2010, he was successively assistant, associate, and full professor of the university of Isfahan.

In 2005, Mirlohi was named as Iran's best professor by Mostafa Moeen, the Iran minister of higher education, for his research excellence, teaching experience, and contribution to Arabic Literature. He was chairman of the Isfahan University committee for academic excellence for professors for more than 15 years to evaluate their academic achievements.

Research fields

Mirlohi's academic interests have included Rhetoric, especially the Qu'ran, and Arabic grammar and syntax, especially the Qu'ran and prose interpretation and dissemination of literature along politics.

Mirlohi is currently editor in chief for Research in Arabic Language and Literature", a semi-annual journal published by University of Isfahan. [5]

As a member of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities at the University of Tehran, Shahidi specialized in the study of Persian language and literature as well as Islamic theology, jurisprudence, and history.

Azartash Azarnoush was a linguist and scholar of Iran. Born in Qom, he held two Ph.D. degrees from France. He specialized in Arabic literature. Azarnoush was part of Imam Sadeq University and Tarbiat Modarres University faculty, and was the director of the Arabic department of The Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia in Tehran since 1986, and published over 200 articles in the field of Arabic literature, as well as a few dozen books.

Mahmood Fotoohi Rudmajani is Professor of Persian Language and Literature at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. Since 2008 he has served as the editor in chief of Literary Criticism Quarterly, an academic Journal of Tarbiat Modarres university. He was the editor in chief of Journal of Faculty of Letters and Humanities, at Tehran Tarbiyat Moallem University, Iran from 2001 to 2008 and has served as a Member of editorial staff in Monthly philosophy and literature in Tehran (1997–2005). In 2009 he was selected as the chair of Iranian Literary Criticism Association (ILCA), an academic NGO in Iran, for two years. Esmaeel Azar or Amir Esmaeel Azar is a professor of Persian literature and director of the Department of Persian Language at the Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, Tehran, and director of the Farhangban Cultural and Artistic Institute. Sayyid Amir Mahmud Anvar ; 15 November 1945 – 3 December 2012) was an Iranian literary academic and poet. Born in Tehran into a notable Musawi family. From the late 1960s to 2010, he was one of the prominent professors of Tehran University in fields of Arabic and Persian literature, plus Islamic mysticism. Honored by number of first-class Iranian cultural awards, he dealt with Twelver Shia religious and Iranian national matters in his poetry and renowned as a bilingual poet in Persian and Arabic. Anvar died at the age of 67 in his birthplace and was buried in Behesht-e Zahra.

Seghatoleslam, also spelled Seqat-ol-eslam, or Thiqat ul-Islam, is an honorific title within the Twelver Shia clergy. Historically, it denoted a scholar who had completed a certain level of religious education but had not yet attained the highest authority in the religious hierarchy, known as Ayatollah. In the recent past, it was typically conferred upon individuals who had completed Islamic seminary levels 1 and 2, obtaining a degree in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) and theology. The title also signifies a trustworthy person respected by Muslims, reflecting a specific level of seminary knowledge.
