Shacklett is an unincorporated community in Cheatham County, in the U.S. state of Tennessee. [1]

History

A post office called Shacklett was established in 1897, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1904. [2] The community was named after Dr. Henry Rector Shacklett, a local physician who lived in the Dog Creek community in the late 1800s.[ citation needed ]

Richard Cheatham was an American politician in Middle Tennessee. He was elected as a Whig in 1836 from Tennessee's 11th congressional district to the United States House of Representatives, serving one term. He had previously served several terms in Tennessee's State House, from 1825 to 1833.
