The Shah Noorani truck crash was an incident in the Hub District of Pakistan's Balochistan province, where 18 people were killed and more than 35 injured when a truck carrying pilgrims to the shrine of Shah Noorani fell into a ditch. [1]

The crash

This crash took place on Wednesday, 10 April 2024 in the Hub District of Balochistan. The truck was reportedly speeding and lost control while negotiating a curve. As a result, he falls into a ditch in a mountain town as he approaches the shrine. As a result of the accident, 18 people died and more than 35 were injured. [2] [3] The driver of the truck reportedly jumped out of the vehicle for safety. [2]

The deceased were pilgrims from village Qasim Jokhio who were on pilgrimage to Dargah Shah Noorani in Balochistan on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. The dead bodies of the victims were brought back to their villages under the supervision of former MPA Jam Awais Bijar Khan Jokhio. [4]

Aftermath

After the crash, the injured were taken to a trauma center in Karachi for treatment. [4]

The Shah Noorani shrine in Balochistan was attacked on November 12, 2016. More than 55 people were killed in the attack and another 100 were injured. Several people were killed and injured due to a stampede caused by the blast and scores of injured were transported to the hospital in private vehicles by visitors who survived the attack. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.
