Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendar, popularly known as Simbu or by his initials as STR, is an Indian actor and playback singer who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He is the eldest son of director T. Rajendar. He began his acting career by playing roles as a child artist in films directed by his father, before his first lead role in his father's Kadhal Azhivathillai (2002). He was appointed Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Special act implementation Department of Tamil Nadu in the ministry by his father the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin in December 2022. He is a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, representing the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni Assembly constituency.
Renigunta is a 2009 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by R. Panneerselvam. The film stars Johnny and Sanusha, while Nishanth, Theepetti Ganesan, Thamizh, and Sandeep play supporting roles. Samar is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language mystery action-adventure film written and directed by Thiru. It stars Vishal, Trisha and Sunaina, with Manoj Bajpayee and J. D. A remake of the 2011 Bollywood English-language film, Delhi Belly, it stars Arya, Santhanam, Premji, Hansika Motwani and Anjali. The film, which began filming in Chennai on 7 May 2012, released for April 2013. The audio was launched on 30 January. The film released on 5 April 2013.
Vaalu is a 2015 Indian Tamil-language romantic action comedy film written and directed by debutante Vijay Chandar. The film stars Silambarasan and Hansika Motwani, with Santhanam, VTV Ganesh and Brahmanandam portraying supporting roles. The film was produced by S. S. Chakravarthy under the banner NIC Arts. S. Thaman composed the music while Sakthi and T. S. Suresh handled the cinematography and editing respectively.
R. Panneerselvam is an Indian/Tamil action film director. His films include Renigunta (2009) starring the actor known as Johnny. In 2016 his film Renigunta was later remade & released in Kannada as Mandya to Mumbai.
Uyire Uyire is a 2016 Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by A. Rajasekhar and produced by veteran actress Jaya Prada and former politician Amar Singh. The film, a remake of Vikram Kumar's 2012 Telugu film Ishq, stars Jaya Prada's nephew Siddhu and Hansika Motwani. The film was released on 1 April 2016 to mixed reviews from critics.
