Early life

Shamata Anchan is from a Tulu-speaking Billava (Poojary) family that hails from Mangalore, Karnataka. [1]

Career

Modelling

She is the winner of Pantaloons Femina Miss India South 2012 pageant. [2] She was also one of the finalists of Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2012. She has done many advertisements for famous brands and has done modelling and print campaigns for many fashion designers, and cosmetics brands like Santoor. She was also a part of Chal Kar Pehel, an initiative launched by Star Plus.

Television

Shamata Anchan debuted on television with the show Everest , produced by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar. She played the role of Anjali Singh Rawat, the main lead in the show along with Rohan Gandotra and Sahil Salathia. The show aired on Star Plus channel. She was also the female lead of the serial Bin Kuch Kahe , which aired on Zee Tv.

Films

Shamata has done an extended cameo in the Hollywood movie, Heartbeats. [3] Shamata is making her Bollywood debut with upcoming movie The Field in 2019 alongside Abhay Deol. She debuted as a sub-inspector of Mumbai police alongside Rajinikanth starrer Darbar in 2020. [4] [5] [6] [7]

Everest is a Hindi-language Indian telenovela telecasted by STAR Plus. Directed by Glenn Baretto and Ankush Mohla, Everest is created by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Ashutosh Gowariker Productions Private Limited (AGPPL). A. R. Rahman composed the music for the telenovela, which is the television debut of both Gowariker and Rahman, as producer and music composer respectively. Everest has been shot in India and Nepal, with shooting locations including the Everest Base Camp and the Dokriani Glacier, which are located at a height of 17,590 feet (5,360 m) and 12,000 feet (3,700 m) above sea level, respectively. The telenovela was shot in extreme conditions and temperatures.

Darbar (transl. Court) is a 2020 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by A. R. Murugadoss and produced by Allirajah Subaskaran under Lyca Productions. It stars Rajinikanth, Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas and Suniel Shetty. The music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander with cinematography and editing performed by Santosh Sivan and A. Sreekar Prasad, respectively. In the film Aaditya, the commissioner of Mumbai Police, sets out to catch Ajay, a drug peddler. However, he uncovers a deeper controversy linked to an international drug lord and must mete out justice.
