Shanzu is a suburb of Mombasa, Kenya. Shanzu is located in Mombasa, off the Mombasa-Malindi highway. Shanzu Beach has a number of popular hotels, bars and restaurants and is within easy reach of Mombasa, Bamburi, Nyali and Mtwapa. [1] The streets are mostly lined with small scale businesses that are the major economic activity.

In November 1973, five personnel involved in a salvage attempt died in hold No. 3 due to gas poisoning while conducting diving operations. In 1978, the wreck was demolished by Divecon Ltd, Mombasa, leaving the main engine visible and the remains of the ship less than 10 feet (3.0 m) below the surface.
