She claimed a gold medal in the 59-kg class at the 2003 World Taekwondo Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and represented her nation Greece in two editions of the Olympic Games. Throughout her sporting career, Athanasopoulou trained as a member of taekwondo squad for AS Vyronas Athinaikos in her native Athens, under head coach and master Apostolos Iakovakis.

Nootcharin Sukkhongdumnoen is a Thai taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's featherweight category. Dong Ja Yang is the former chairman of the AAU National Taekwondo Union from 1979-84. From 1984-88, He was a member of the Executive Board of the United States Olympic Committee. Earning a Ph.D. in counseling psychology, Yang introduced taekwondo to 77 colleges in the U.S. from 1977-83. During these years, he was essential in helping raise taekwondo to Olympic status. He taught Taekwondo for 35 years at Howard University. In 1986, Yang asked WTF President Kim Un-Yong to lower the black belt fee for taekwondo, which resulted in Yang's removal from the WTF Pan American Taekwondo Union. In 1988, three of his students earned medals in the Seoul Summer Olympics: Lynnette Love, Debra Holloway and Sharon Jewell. He received an award from Congressman Ralph Metcalfe for his work in bringing women to taekwondo. He also hosted the Howard University Taekwondo Championships. In 2001, he filed a complaint against the United States Taekwondo Union. Yang was elected to the Taekwondo Hall of Fame and holds a 9th degree black belt.
Yvette Yong is a Canadian taekwondo practitioner. She is a former World Championships bronze medallist. In 2015, she was named to Canada's team at the 2015 Pan American Games to be held in Toronto.
Sharon Renee Couch-Jewell is an American track and field athlete who specialized in the long jump and sprint hurdles originating in Amelia, a small county in Virginia. She represented her country at the 1992 and 2000 Summer Olympics as well as one indoor and three outdoor World Championships.

For eight years, she participated in the Iranian national team. She now fights under the IOC team flag.
