Ronald Ray Smith was an American athlete, winner of the gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 1968 Summer Olympics. He attended San Jose State College during the "Speed City" era, coached by Lloyd (Bud) Winter and graduating in sociology.

Smith was a two-time NCAA Division I national champion, and a six-time world level champion with two Olympic Championships and four World Wrestling Championships. At the end of his competitive career, Smith had won more World and Olympic gold medals in wrestling than any other American. Smith was widely known for his low single leg takedown, and is considered one of the greatest freestyle wrestlers of all time.

Shelby Autrie Wilson is an American wrestler and Olympic champion. A native of Ponca City, Oklahoma, he was a two-time Oklahoma state tournament runner-up while in high school, and was a two-time NCAA runner-up in college at Oklahoma A&M. At the 1960 U.S. Olympic Trials, he finished in third place. During the Olympic Training Camp he successfully challenged the trials' second and first-place finishers to gain the starting position. He won Olympic Gold in Rome in the freestyle lightweight division. His Olympic gold medal was the first major tournament that Wilson had won. He later became a high school wrestling coach at Owen Valley Community High School.

He also won a silver medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the same class to become Great Britain’s most successful Olympic yachtsman until Ben Ainslie overtook him with 3 gold medals and a silver medal at four different Olympic Games at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Pattisson was a member of Itchenor Sailing Club.

Vasile Andrei is a retired heavyweight wrestler from Romania. He competed in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Olympics and won a bronze medal in 1980 and a gold medal in 1984. At the 1984 Olympics he also placed sixth in freestyle wrestling, and in 1980 and 1988 served as flag bearer for Romania at the opening ceremony. At the world and European championships he won six medals in Greco-Roman wrestling between 1979 and 1987.

Anibál Nieves Javier is retired male sport wrestler from Puerto Rico. In college he wrestled for East Stroudsburg University where he achieved All-American status at the Division I level of the NCAA. He twice represented his native country at the Summer Olympics: in 1992 and 1996. Nieves also twice won a silver medal at the Pan American Games during his career. After coaching stints at Springfield Technical Community College, American International College, Western New England University, he was hired as the head men’s and women’s coach at East Stroudsburg University. He was a nine-time Puerto Rican champion.

While serving with the U.S. Marines, stationed at Quantico, Va., he won a silver medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Greco-Roman, as well as two silver and a bronze medal in freestyle at the world championships from 1981 to 1983.
Justin "Harry" Lester is a Greco-Roman wrestler from the United States who won bronze medals at the 2006 and 2007 world championships. He competed at the 2012 Olympics and finished in seventh place.
