Shaunagh Craig (born 5 April 1993) is a netball player who has represented both Northern Ireland and England at international level. She played for Northern Ireland at the 2019 Netball World Cup. She also helped Hertfordshire Mavericks and Team Bath win Netball Superleague titles in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

Early life, family and education

Craig was born Bedford, England. Both of her parents were originally from Northern Ireland. [2] [3] [4] [5] She completed her secondary level education at Sharnbrook Upper School. [6] Between 2012 and 2016 Craig attended the University of Bath on a sports scholarship and graduated with a BSc in Sports Performance. [1] [7] [8]

Hertfordshire Mavericks

Between 2010 and 2012 Craig played for Hertfordshire Mavericks. She was a member of the Mavericks squad that won the 2011 Netball Superleague title. [1] [3] [9] [10]

Team Bath

Between 2012 and 2016, while attending the University of Bath, Craig played for Team Bath. She was a member of the Team Bath squad that won the 2013 Netball Superleague title. At the end of the 2015 season, Craig was named the Supporters' Player of the Year after gaining 32% of the vote in an online poll. [1] [7] [11] [12] [13]

Belfast Ladies

When the Northern Ireland squad was announced for the 2019 Netball World Cup, Craig was listed as a Belfast Ladies player. [2] [4]

International

England

Craig represented England at under-17, under-19, under-21 and A levels. [3] [4] [13] [14] At the 2013 European Netball Championship, Craig was a member an under-21 squad that represented England in the senior tournament. [3] [15] She was selected for the 2015 Netball World Cup England squad but subsequently had to withdraw because of an injury. [4] [7]

Northern Ireland

Craig was selected to represent Northern Ireland at the 2019 Netball World Cup. [2] [3] [4] [13] [16] [17] In the opening game against Australia, Craig scored 18 of Northern Ireland's 24 goals. [5]

Employment

Between 2014 and 2015, while also attending the University of Bath, Craig worked as a development coach for England Netball. [1] [7] [8] Between 2017 and 2018 she worked as a sports manager at Takapuna Grammar School. [8] Between 2018 and 2019 she worked as a volunteer community organiser at the Corrymeela Community. [3] [5] [8] In 2019 Craig began working as a service manager in Gloucester for BeeZee Bodies, a company promoting healthy lifestyles. [8] [22]

Team Bath is the University of Bath's sporting organisation. In addition to entering teams in BUCS intervarsity competitions, Team Bath has also entered teams in national leagues and competitions. Team Bath F.C. reached the first round proper of the 2002–03 FA Cup. They become the first university team to reach this stage since Oxford University A.F.C. in 1880. In 2005–06 the netball team were both founder members and the inaugural champions of the Netball Superleague. They were Superleague champions again in 2006–07, 2008–09, 2009–10 and 2013. Tamsin Greenway is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011 and 2015 Netball World Cups. Between 2006 and 2018 she played in eight Netball Superleague grand finals for three different teams – Team Bath, Surrey Storm and Wasps. During this time she won five Netball Superleague titles as a player and/or coach and a sixth as a director of netball. Greenway also works as a netball pundit for Sky Sports. In 2020, she was appointed head coach of the Scotland national netball team.

Amanda Newton is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and at the 1999 World Netball Championships. She captained England at the 2007 World Netball Championships. Between 2001 and 2010 she played in seven senior finals and won four national titles with three different teams – London Tornadoes, Northern Thunder and Mavericks.

Team Bath is an English netball team based at the University of Bath. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were both founder members and the inaugural champions of the league. They were Superleague champions again in 2006–07, 2008–09, 2009–10 and 2013, and British Fast5 All-Stars Champions in 2021. The netball team is one of several sports teams based at the University of Bath that use the Team Bath brand name. Others include an association football team and a field hockey team.

London Mavericks is an English netball team originally based at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the league. They were Superleague champions in 2007–08 and 2011. Due to various sponsorship deals and partnership arrangements, the team has played under several different names. Between 2005–06 and 2008–09 they played as Galleria Mavericks. Between 2009–10 and 2017 they played as Hertfordshire Mavericks. During this era they were also referred to as University of Hertfordshire Mavericks. During the 2018 season they played as benecosMavericks. They became Saracens Mavericks in 2019 after forming a partnership with the rugby union club, Saracens F.C.. They adopted their current name ahead of the 2025 season.

Stacey Francis-Bayman is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011 and 2015 Netball World Cups. At club level she has played for both Team Bath and Yorkshire Jets in the Netball Superleague, for Canterbury Tactix in the ANZ Championship and for West Coast Fever in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2005–06 and 2013 she was a prominent member of the Team Bath squad as they won five Superleague titles. She played in the 2010 and 2013 grand finals and in both 2011 and 2013 she was named the Netball Superleague Player of the Season. In 2017 she was inducted into the University of Bath/Team Bath Hall of Fame for Sport.

Louisa Brownfield, also known as Louisa Watson, is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011 World Netball Championships. Between 2006 and 2015, Brownfield also played for Mavericks in seven Netball Superleague grand finals, helping them win two titles in 2007–08 and 2011.

Chelsea Lewis is a Wales netball international. She represented Wales at the 2011 and 2015 Netball World Cups and at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was also a member of the Wales teams that won the 2010 Netball Singapore Nations Cup and the 2013 and 2014 European Netball Championships. At club level she has played for Celtic Dragons and Team Bath in the Netball Superleague.

The 2005–06 Netball Superleague season was the inaugural season of the new Netball Superleague which replaced the Super Cup as the top level netball competition in England. The inaugural champions were Team Bath, who defeated Galleria Mavericks in the grand final.

The 2009 Netball Superleague Grand Final featured Team Bath and Galleria Mavericks. Having previously played each other in both the 2006 and 2007 grand finals, this was third final that featured Team Bath and Mavericks. This was Team Bath's third grand final and Mavericks fourth. As with the two previous encounters, it was Team Bath that emerged as winners. The Mavericks netted 46 of their 52 chances, while Team Bath claimed 54 from 62.

The 2011 Netball Superleague season was the sixth season of the Netball Superleague. The league was won by Hertfordshire Mavericks. In the grand final Hertfordshire Mavericks defeated Surrey Storm. For the first time, the season was completed in a single calendar year, starting on 22 January and concluding on 9 June with the grand final. Fiat Group Automobiles became the Netball Superleague's new sponsor.

The 2011 Netball Superleague Grand Final featured Hertfordshire Mavericks and Surrey Storm. Mavericks would win their second title. This was Mavericks sixth successive grand final while Surrey Storm's were making their debut appearance. Between 2011 and 2016 Surrey Storm would play in five out of the six Netball Superleague grand finals. However in their first three they finished as runners up. In 2011 they lost 57–46 to Mavericks.

The 2013 Netball Superleague season was the eighth season of the Netball Superleague. The league was won by Team Bath who defeated Celtic Dragons in the grand final. 2013 used a three phases format similar to 2012.

The 2016 Netball Superleague season was the eleventh season of the Netball Superleague. The league was won by Surrey Storm after defeating Manchester Thunder in the grand final. Thunder finished top of the table following the regular season. The league was sponsored by VitalityHealth.

Layla Guscoth is an England netball international. She was a member of the England squad that won a bronze medal at the 2019 Netball World Cup. At club level, Guscoth has played for Loughborough Lightning, Hertfordshire Mavericks and Team Bath in the Netball Superleague and for Adelaide Thunderbirds in Suncorp Super Netball. She was a member of the Mavericks team that won the 2011 Netball Superleague. She has captained both Mavericks and Thunderbirds. In 2016 she qualified as a doctor.

Jessica Thirlby is a former England netball international and the current head coach of the England national netball team. As a player, she was a member of the Team Bath squad that won the inaugural 2005–06 Netball Superleague title. She also represented England at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. As a head coach, she guided Team Bath to further Netball Superleague titles in 2008–09, 2009–10 and 2013. In July 2019, Thirlby was appointed head coach of the senior England national netball team.

Fionnuala Toner is a Northern Ireland netball international. She represented Northern Ireland at the 2011 and 2019 Netball World Cups and at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was also a member of the Northern Ireland team that were silver medallists at the 2017 European Netball Championships. She has played in the Netball Superleague for Team Northumbria, London Pulse and Team Bath. Toner is also an Ireland women's basketball international. Her younger sister, Máire Toner, is also a Northern Ireland netball international.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2016 Team Bath netball season</span> Team Bath netball season

The 2016 Team Bath netball season saw Team Bath finish third overall in the 2016 Netball Superleague. In the third-place play-off they defeated Hertfordshire Mavericks 49–48 to finish the season as bronze medallists. During the regular season they finished fourth, level on points with Surrey Storm and Hertfordshire Mavericks in second and third place respectively. Manchester Thunder topped the table. Team Bath lost 53–46 at Manchester Thunder in the play-off semi-finals.

The 2020 Team Bath netball season will see Team Bath play in the 2020 Netball Superleague.
