She Maroons FC is a professional Uganda Women's football team competing in the FUFA Women Super League. The club was founded in 2017 by the Uganda Prisons Service and also doubles as the ladies team of Maroons Football Club.
She Maroons football club is owned by the Uganda Prisons Service, it came into existence as a result of the Uganda Premier League side Maroons FC to double as a ladies team in the year 2017. They won the FUFA Elite Women's League in 2020/2021 after defeating Rhiness SS WFC 1-0 in a match that was played at the Njeru based FUFA technical center on Thursday. [1] [2] [3]
The FUFA Elite Wome's League 2020/21 residential tournament was organized as part of the FUFA COVID 19 regulations that only allowed a 20 person contingents for participating teams and played in a space of one month. She Maroons FC kicked off their first game on the 25th May 2021 against Echoes WFC winning 6-1, the second game was played against Wakiso Hills as She Maroons FC won by 2-1 goal margin emerging top of the group after 1-0 win over Lango Queens in the final group game.
In the quarter finals, She-Maroons earned a 3-1 triumph against Ajax Queens and Wakiso Hills WFC 1-0 in the Semi-finals. [3]
The champions and runners-up automatically qualify to play in next season's FUFA Women Super League, the top tier women's football league in Uganda. [3]
