Shehu Dikko (born in Kaduna, Nigeria) is a Nigerian football administrator. He is the Chairman of the League Management Company responsible for the management of the Nigerian Professional Football League. [1] [2] He was previously a consultant for the Nigerian House of Representatives on Sports committee.Ahead of the 2022 NFF Elections,Dikko has declared his intention to run for the presidency. Personal life and education

Dikko was born in Kaduna State, Nigeria. He attended Ahmadu Bello University where he studied Quantity Surveying and graduated with a BSc. He also did a post-graduate diploma in management from the same university. He subsequently obtained his Master of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University.

Career

Shehu Dikko was before going into professional football administration was working in the private sector between 1991 and 2004. [6] In 2004, when he went into football administration in Nigeria he started as the FIFA Goal Project Manager (Nigeria) with organizing several club tours between Portsmouth F.C. and Manchester United alongside Kano Pillars F.C. In 2008, Shehu Dikko was hired as a consultant for the sports committee in the Nigerian House of Representatives where he served till 2011. While he was a consultant for the government, he assisted in the drafting the National Sports Commission bill in the National Assembly. In 2012 he was appointed secretary of Super Eagles Bonus Row and code of conduct drafting till 2013. [7] [8] [9] [10] In September 2014, he ran for office of the NFF President but withdrew his candidacy before election was officially held. [11] [12] [13]

On 26 December 2014, he was appointed Chairman of League Management Company by the Nigeria Football Federation. [14]

On 4 April 2019 Shehu Dikko was reappointed Chairman of the League Management Company. [15] [16]

Court order

On 19 April 2016, Dikko ordered the ban of Giwa F.C. after the team had allegedly broken several NPFL rules among the charges were the assault of match referee and other officials during a match. [17] Following the ban, Giwa F.C. sued the LMC and Shehu Dikko to a Federal High court in Plateau State. On 16 August 2016 Shehu Dikko was ordered by the court to reinstate Giwa F.C. into the NPFL. [18]

In September 2016, a Federal High court in Jos ordered the arrest of Dikko for failing to reinstate Giwa F.C. He was subsequently asked to appear before the court and when he failed to appear in court, the court ruled on two weeks imprisonment for Shehu Dikko. [19] [20]

Giwa FC is a Nigerian football club. They are located in Jos and they play in the top division in Nigerian football, the Nigerian Premier League. 15,000 capacity Rwang Pam Stadium is their home. With a game to go in their debut season, they won promotion to the Nigeria Premier League with 50 points.

The 2014 Nigeria Professional Football League was the 43rd season of the competition since its inception, and the 24th since the rebranding of the league as the "Professional League". The season was scheduled to kick off on November 22, about one month after the conclusion of the 2013 season. However, on that date the league's start was postponed to mid-February until after the 2014 African Nations Championship and to allow the teams to complete all their FIFA licensing. Amaju Melvin Pinnick is a Nigerian football administrator, who was president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) from 2014 to 2022. He was elected NFF president in September 2014 and reelected on 20 September 2018. He was also First Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) from September 2018 to July 2019, and a member of the Organising Committee for FIFA competitions.

In March 2017, previously relegated Capital City Doves were re-added to the league, increasing the number of teams to seventeen. On 24 March, COD United Amazons F.C. and Capital City Doves were confirmed to be excluded from the league after failing to meet the registration deadline. This reduced the number of teams to fifteen.

Sikiru Olatunbosun is a Nigerian footballer who plays as a winger for Turkish club Tuzlaspor.

Edwin Edem Okon is the head coach of Rivers Angels. Born in Cross River State, Okon got a coaching certificate from the sport institute in Lagos State. Following the failure of Nigeria to win the 2012 African Women's Championship, and the subsequent resignation of coach Kadiri Ikhana, Okon was appointed interim head coach of the Super Falcons in 2013.

The 2019–2020 Nigeria Professional Football League was the 49th season of the top-flight division of the Nigerian football league system and the 30th season since its rebranding as the 'Professional League'. The league started on 3 November 2019 but was cancelled in July due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic with no champions and no teams relegated. Enyimba were the defending champions, after winning the Super 6 play-offs the previous season

The 2020–21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) was the 50th season of the top flight league in the Nigeria football league system and the 31st since its rebranding. The league started on 27 December 2020 after much delay and concluded on 5 August 2021.

The 2021–22 Nigeria Professional Football League was the 51st season of Nigeria's top-flight association football league and the 32nd since attaining professionalism. The season started on 17 December 2021 and was concluded on 17 July 2022.
