On 9 January 2019, Abba-Ibrahim announced her resignation from the federal cabinet to focus on her campaign for Federal House of Representatives seat for her Constituency which she won. Khadija Ibrahim is married to senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim a former governor of Yobe State and former senator.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Damaturu prison break</span> Prison break in Nigeria suspected to be orchestrated by Boko Haram

The Damaturu prison break was an attack on the Jimeta prison at Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State in the northeastern Nigeria by 40 gunmen suspected to be members of the terrorist group Boko Haram. The attack is thought to have been a bid to rescue imprisoned members of Boko Haram. About 40 prisoners escaped from the prison; seven inmates and one prison warden died. The escaped prisoners were largely members of the insurgent.

Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai is a Nigerian politician. He is the Senator representing Yobe South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly. He is a member of the ruling Party All Progressives Congress (APC).

In February 2015, suicide bombings occurred in the northern Nigerian cities Damaturu, Potiskum and Kano.

The 2023 Yobe State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Yobe State, concurrent with elections to the Yobe State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Mai Mala Buni is eligible to run for re-election and has been renominated by his party.

The 2019 Yobe State House of Assembly election was held on March 9, 2019, to elect members of the Yobe State House of Assembly in Nigeria. All the 24 seats were up for election in the Yobe State House of Assembly.
