Sheikh Mustafa Kamal is an Indian politician and one of the leaders of the Jammu &Kashmir National Conference [1] Party in Jammu and Kashmir. He served in the state cabinets formed in 1983,1987 and 1996. [2]
Kamal is the son of Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdullah,the brother of former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah and the uncle of the former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. [3]
The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) is a regional political party in Indian-administered Kashmir's union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Founded as the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference by Sheikh Abdullah and Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas in 1932 in the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir,the organisation renamed itself to National Conference in 1939 in order to represent all the people of the state. It supported the accession of the princely state to India in 1947. Prior to that,in 1941,a group led by Ghulam Abbas broke off from the National Conference and revived the old Muslim Conference. The revived Muslim Conference supported the accession of the princely state to Pakistan and led the movement for Azad Kashmir.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) is an alliance of 26 political,social and religious organizations formed on 9 March 1993,as a united political front to raise the cause of Kashmiri independence in the Kashmir conflict. Mehmood Ahmed Saghar was the first convener of the APHC-PAK chapter when the alliance was established in 1993. The alliance has historically been viewed positively by Pakistan as it contests the claim of the Indian government over the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The organisation is split into two main factions,those being the Mirwaiz and Geelani factions. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is the founder and chairman of Mirwaiz faction and Masarat Alam Bhat is the interim chairman of Geelani faction,who succeeded Syed Ali Shah Geelani,the founder of the faction after his death.

He has served as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on several occasions since 1982,and as the union minister for New and Renewable Energy between 2009 and 2014. He is the son of the 1st elected chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Sheikh Abdullah. His son is former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah.

Although India is a parliamentary democracy,the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism,possibly due to the absence of party organizations,independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party,or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national,state,regional,and district level. The Nehru–Gandhi family has produced three Indian prime ministers,and family members have largely led the Congress party since 1978. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also has several dynastic leaders. In addition to the major national parties,other national and regional parties such as Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK),Shiromani Akali Dal,Shiv Sena,Samajwadi Party,Rashtriya Janata Dal,Janata Dal Secular,Jharkhand Mukti Morcha,Kerala Congress,Jammu &Kashmir National Conference,Indian Union Muslim League,AIMIM,and the Nationalist Congress Party are all dominated by families,mostly those of the party founders.

Ghulam Mohammad Shah or G. M. Shah or Gul Shah was an Indian politician who was Chief Minister of the state of Jammu and Kashmir from 2 July 1984 to 6 March 1986. He succeeded his brother-in-law Farooq Abdullah. Shah's father-in-law was Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah,the founder of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference,of which Shah was once a senior member. Shah died on 6 January 2009 at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar. He was 88.

He was known for his religious lectures and as a Kashmiri separatist,ex-chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference,also founder &chairman of the Ittihadul Muslimeen also known as Jammu &Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) a Kashmiri nationalist Shia separatist political party which aims for Shi'a–Sunni unity in Kashmir &independence of Jammu and Kashmir from India through peaceful struggle. He is considered a moderate and has called for an end to violence in that region. He is Succeeded by his son Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari.
Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami is an Indian politician from Jammu and Kashmir. He belongs to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and is a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly,to which he has been elected five times consecutively since 1996,representing the Kulgam Assembly Constituency.
