Synchronized skating is a sport where between eight and sixteen figure skaters perform together as a team. They move as a flowing unit at high speed over the ice, while completing complicated footwork. Synchronized skating grew rapidly in the late 20th and early 21st centuries and today there are approximately 600 synchro teams in the United States alone.
Tanith Jessica Louise Belbin White is a Canadian-American ice dancer and Olympic program host for NBC Sports. Though born in Canada, she holds dual citizenship and has competed for the United States since she began skating with Benjamin Agosto in 1998. With Agosto, Belbin is the 2006 Olympic silver medalist, four-time World medalist, three-time Four Continents champion (2004–2006), and five-time U.S. champion (2004–2008).
Tessa Jane McCormick Virtue is a retired Canadian ice dancer. With ice dance partner Scott Moir, she is the 2010 and 2018 Olympic champion, the 2014 Olympic silver medalist, a three-time World champion, a three-time Four Continents champion, the 2016–17 Grand Prix Final champion, an eight-time Canadian National champion, and the 2006 World Junior champion. Virtue and Moir are also the 2018 Olympic gold medalists in the team event and the 2014 Olympic silver medalists in the team event. They are the most decorated Canadian ice dance team of all time and the most decorated Olympic figure skaters of all time.

They also won a bronze medal in the team event at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships (WSSC) are the world championships for the sport of synchronized skating. Held since 2000, the World Synchronized Skating Championships is an annual event organized by the International Skating Union and attracts the most elite senior-level synchronized skating teams from around the world to compete for the World Championship.
Marcin Kozubek is a Polish former competitive ice dancer. With Agata Błażowska, he is the 1997 World Junior bronze medalist, a two-time Ondrej Nepela Memorial champion, the 1999 Winter Universiade bronze medalist, and the 1999 Polish national champion.
Danny Moir is a Canadian former competitive ice dancer. He competed for most of his career with his cousin Sheri Moir. They are the 2001 Canadian national junior silver medalists and placed 11th at the 2001 World Junior Championships. They competed for two seasons on the Junior Grand Prix and placed 11th at the 2001 Nebelhorn Trophy. After that partnership ended, Moir competed with Kristina Lenko in the 2002-2003 season.
Maia and Alex Shibutani, also known as the Shib Sibs, are American ice dance siblings. They are the 2018 Olympic bronze medalists, three-time World medalists, the 2016 Four Continents champions, and two-time U.S. national champions. The siblings have won six titles on the Grand Prix series and stood on the podium at 14 consecutive U.S. Championships, at five levels including eight as seniors. They are two-time members of the US Olympic team, competing at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. In 2018, the siblings became the first ice dancers who are both of Asian descent to medal at the Olympics. They are the second sibling duo to ever share an ice dancing Olympic medal, and the first from the United States. The Shibutani siblings are often referred to by their nickname the "Shib Sibs".

They have won ten gold medals on the Grand Prix series. Earlier in their career, they won silver at the 2012 Junior Grand Prix Final and at the 2013 World Junior Championships.
