Sheriff Youth Club is an Irish association football club based in Sheriff Street, Dublin. [1] Their senior team plays in the Athletic Union League. They have also competed in the FAI Cup, the FAI Junior Cup and the Leinster Senior Cup.
In the 2010s Sheriff Y.C. have emerged as one of the most successful junior and amateur teams in the Republic of Ireland. Between 2009 and 2010 and 2014–15 they have won the Athletic Union League Premier A title six times. This included a five in a row sequence between 2011 and 2012 and 2014–15. During this time Sheriff were also regular winners of the two AUL league cups, the Nivea Cup and the Liddy Cup. They also won two FAI Junior Cups and two Leinster Junior Cups. In 2013 Sheriff also won the Tom Hand Memorial Cup, a new cup featuring the winners of the FAI Intermediate Cup and the winners of the FAI Junior Cup. In the final they defeated Avondale United 3–2 at Turners Cross. [2] [3]
In national and provincial senior cup competitions, Sheriff have also held their own. In the 2011 FAI Cup, after defeating College Corinthians [4] and Salthill Devon [5] in the early rounds, Sheriff faced Shelbourne in the round of sixteen. Sheriff pulled off one of the biggest shocks in recent FAI Cup history when they came from 2–0 down to defeat Shels 3–2 at Tolka Park. [6] Allegations were later made that Shelbourne had deliberately lost the match. [7] However it later emerged that Sheriff had fielded an ineligible player and they were subsequently expelled from the competition. Shelbourne were awarded a 3–0 victory and reinstated for the quarter-finals. [8] They eventually reached the final. In the 2013–14 Leinster Senior Cup Sheriff were semi-finalists, losing 2–1 to Longford Town. [9] In the 2015 FAI Cup, after defeating UCD 3–1 [10] and Athlone Town after a replay and penalties, [11] Sheriff reached the quarter-finals but lost 3–1 to Longford Town. [12]

The Leinster Senior Cup is an association football cup competition organized by the Leinster Football Association. It is currently contested by LFA affiliated League of Ireland clubs, Leinster Senior League Senior Division clubs and invited teams from the various LFA affiliated junior leagues. Before the introduction of the FAI Cup, it was considered the major cup competition for clubs in what is now the Republic of Ireland. It is also the oldest association football cup competition in the Republic of Ireland.
The FAI Intermediate Cup, also known as the FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup and the Pat O'Brien Intermediate Challenge Cup, is a cup competition organized by the Football Association of Ireland for intermediate association football clubs from the Republic of Ireland. These include clubs competing in the Leinster Senior League, the Munster Senior League and the Ulster Senior League. It was originally known as the FAI Qualifying Cup and from the beginning it has been used as a qualifying competition for the senior FAI Cup. Its senior division is known as the Premier A. Teams from the AUL also compete in the FAI Cup, the FAI Junior Cup and the Leinster Senior Cup. The AUL headquarters are at the AUL Complex at Clonshaugh/Swords, Dublin. The AUL is affiliated to both the Football Association of Ireland and the Leinster Football Association.

The 2019 season was St. Patrick's Athletic F.C.'s 90th year in existence and was the Supersaint's 68th consecutive season in the top-flight of Irish football. It was the first season Harry Kenny took charge of the club, following Liam Buckley's spell in charge for the previous seven seasons. The fixtures were announced on 19 December 2018, with the Saints facing Cork City at home on the opening day of the season for the second year in a row, with the Inchicore side set to play champions Dundalk away from home on the final night of the season. Harry Kenny left his post on the 24th August following a 3–1 loss away to bottom of the table UCD in the FAI Cup. He was replaced by Stephen O'Donnell on the 31st August, his first managerial role. Pats finished 5th in the league and won the Leinster Senior Cup, playing the semi final and final with their underage sides after the league season had ended for the senior team.
