The Melvins are an American rock band formed in 1983, in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. They have mostly performed as a trio, as well as a quartet with either two drummers/bassists in recent years. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members. The band was named after a supervisor at a Thriftway in Montesano, where Osborne also worked as a clerk; "Melvin" was disliked by other employees, and the band's members felt it to be an appropriately ridiculous name.
Mortification is an Australian Christian extreme metal band which was formed in 1987 as a heavy metal group, Lightforce, by mainstay Steve Rowe on bass guitar and vocals. By 1990, in the Melbourne suburb of Moorabbin, they were renamed as Mortification with the line-up of Rowe, Michael Carlisle on guitar and Jayson Sherlock on drums. Mortification has released over twenty albums and several videos on major record labels such as Nuclear Blast. As one of the earliest internationally successful Christian death metal bands from Australia, they served as an inspiration for later similar groups.
King Buzzo is an EP by Melvins' guitarist Buzz Osborne, which was released in 1992 through Boner Records. Osborne recruited Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl for the project. Grohl is credited as "Dale Nixon", in reference to the pseudonym Greg Ginn adopted for playing bass on Black Flag's My War.
Haunting the Chapel is an extended play (EP) released by American thrash metal band Slayer in 1984 through Metal Blade and Enigma Records. Slayer's debut album Show No Mercy became Metal Blade's highest-selling, leading to producer Brian Slagel wanting to release an EP. Recorded in Hollywood, the recording process proved difficult when recording drums in a studio without carpet, although it resulted in drummer Dave Lombardo meeting Gene Hoglan who was to become an influence in his drumming style and speed. It was during the recording of this session that Lombardo first had the double bass added to his kit. Hoglan, working for Slayer at the time, sat at the kit and played a double bass for the first time. Lombardo was impressed and although Hoglan never gave him lessons, he did give him tips regarding the use of the double kick drum.

During the band's peak years it was known for covering a wide range of musical styles and remains popular in places like Brazil. Their song "Same 'Ol Sinner" is on the Digital Praise PC game Guitar Praise.
Drop is the seventh album by the band Bride, released in 1995. The album was the only Bride release on Rugged Records. Its sound was a departure from their earlier efforts, using an alternative rock sound, highlighted by banjo and mandolin, which was well received by critics though not by fans. On later releases, Bride returned to their more typical metal based sound.

Trinity is a compilation album by death/doom metal band My Dying Bride. The album combines tracks from previously released EPs. This compilation CD also has two different versions of the front cover. The American release version has a different cover to the version released in the rest of the world. In 2004 the CD was re-released and given an extra 2 tracks taken from the band's first demo, "Towards the Sinister".
Dale Thompson is an American singer, musician and songwriter. In 1983, along with his younger brother Troy, Dale formed the band Matrix and began writing original material. In 1986, Matrix was signed to a record deal and changed their name to Bride. Between 1986 and 2013, Thompson released 14 studio albums with Bride, along with five solo albums, before disbanding the group, with the brothers remaining the only two original members throughout Bride's career. A lyric tenor in Bride's early days, Thompson was known for his powerful and stratospheric voice, as is evidenced on such early Bride songs as "Evil That Men Do", "Hell No" and "Here Comes the Bride".
"God of Thunder" is a song by Kiss from their album Destroyer. The song has also been featured on many of Kiss' live albums, including an up-tempo version on Alive II. Many various sound effects were used to make the song including explosions, clapping, zippers, overdubbed audience chatter and screaming children. The song was written by Paul Stanley, who intended to sing it on the album, but producer Bob Ezrin suggested slowing down the tempo and handing the lead vocals over to Gene Simmons.

This was the last album in the band's metal era, as the band began writing more commercial hard rock on the following releases. Despite the changes, this album did not sell notably better than their previous releases.

This album was the band's first release on the Star Song label, and started the band's hard rock era, leaving straightforward metal behind and focusing on a more commercial sound. The band tasted success with the song "Everybody Knows My Name" which won them a GMA Dove Award, and "Sweet Louise" was a Christian radio hit. Empyria is a Canadian progressive power metal band, formed in 1991 by Mike Kischnick, Paul Falcon, and Simon Adam in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The band relocated to Kelowna, B.C. in 2003.
Fist Full Of Bees is the tenth album by the band Bride. It is the band's attempt to make an album within the nu metal genre of the late 1990s. It was the first and last album with Absolute Records, as the singer Dale Thompson stated in an interview in 2003: "Nothing happened and that was the problem. The record company was not answering questions, not moving and had no real plan for the record, so it died. I got us out of the contract by discussing my personal beliefs and philosophies with the head of the label. He and I did not see eye to eye, so he released us." The album was heavily criticized by both Bride fans and reviewers who did not know what to make of the album. The album mixed in rap-core metal which was uniquely different from their entire musical catalog.
