Shri Ram Janki Medical College and Hospital or SRJMCH is a government medical college having multiple healthcare facilities and is located in Samastipur, Bihar. It was established in 2024. [1] [2] The college is currently affiliated with Bihar University of Health Sciences. [3]

The medical college, which is the 12th state government medical colleges has the provision to enroll as many as 100 students in the bachelor in medicine bachelor in surgery (MBBS) course from 2024-25 academic session. A senior officer of the health department said that the process to get the college affiliated to the Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS) will be initiated soon to admit students in the MBBS courses.

History

The college is named after Lord Rama and Sita because the land has been donated by Shri Ram Janaki Math for the construction of this hospital, hence this hospital has been named Shri Ram Janaki Medical College and Hospital, to provide quality medical education and healthcare services to the people of Bihar. [1] [4]

Infrastructure

Built at a cost of Rs 591 crore, Shri Ram Janki Medical College and Hospital (SRJMCH) has a 500-bed state-of-the-art hospital, equipped with all modern facilities. [5] All its buildings are earthquake resistant. These buildings were constructed while following the environmental norms. The residential accommodation for the college principal, hospital superintendent, doctors, para-medical employees and students have been provided within the campus. A ‘dharmashala’ also has been built on the campus to provide temporary stay to the relatives of patients.

Maa Janaki Janmbhoomi Mandir or Punaura Dham is a proposed grand temple of princess Sita in Mithila at her birthplace. The site is located at the Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district of Bihar in India. The site is considered as the appearance place from where Sita was found closed in a box from a farm field while the King Janaka was ploughing the farm field. Ramayana Research Council has proposed the construction of the world's tallest 251-feet statue of Mother Sita at Sitamarhi. There is a plan to build Janaki Dham in Sitamarhi on the lines of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. A grand campus known as Janaki Dham will be built on 57 acres of land near Punauradham.
