Electropop is a hybrid music genre combining elements of electronic and pop genres. Writer Hollin Jones has described it as a variant of synth-pop with heavy emphasis on its electronic sound. The genre was developed in the 1980s and saw a revival of popularity and influence in the late 2000s.
Larry Levan was an American DJ best known for his decade-long residency at the New York City night club Paradise Garage, which has been described as the prototype of the modern dance club. He developed a cult following who referred to his sets as "Saturday Mass". Influential post-disco DJ François Kevorkian credits Levan with introducing the dub aesthetic into dance music. Jon Hassell was an American trumpet player and composer. The concept was first articulated on Fourth World, Vol. 1: Possible Musics, his 1980 collaboration with Brian Eno.

The Music Box Tour was a concert tour in 1993 by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, in support of her Diamond-certified album, Music Box (1993). It is Carey's first headlining tour, visiting six cities in the United States. The tour lasted seven shows, starting on November 3, 1993 in Miami, Florida, and ended on December 10, 1993 in New York City.
Issa Bagayogo was a Malian musician. He released four full-length albums all under the record label Six Degrees Records. Bagayogo lent his voice and played the kamele n'goni while Yves Wernert was the producer and keyboardist. Bagayogo died after a long illness on 10 October 2016.

"Cedars of Lebanon" is a song by Irish rock band U2. It is the eleventh and final track on their 2009 album No Line on the Horizon. It is sung in the character of a war correspondent who is "squeezing complicated lives into a simple headline" and who "observes "this shitty world" where the aroma of a rose "lingers and then it just goes". The song samples producer Brian Eno's collaboration with Harold Budd, "Against the Sky", from the 1984 album The Pearl.
