Sidak Singh (born 17 May 1999) is an Indian cricketer. A slow left-arm orthodox spinner, Singh made his competitive cricket debut for Mumbai at the age of 15 in March 2015 after impressive performances in the under-15 and under-19 age-group levels. He thus became the youngest player to debut for Mumbai since Sachin Tendulkar. [1]
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a 20-metre (22-yard) pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at the wicket with the bat, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this and dismiss each player. Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground. When ten players have been dismissed, the innings ends and the teams swap roles. The game is adjudicated by two umpires, aided by a third umpire and match referee in international matches. They communicate with two off-field scorers who record the match's statistical information.
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is an Indian former international cricketer and a former captain of the Indian national team. He is often regarded as the greatest batsman in the history of cricket. He is the highest run scorer of all time in International cricket. Tendulkar took up cricket at the age of eleven, made his Test debut on 15 November 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi at the age of sixteen, and went on to represent Mumbai domestically and India internationally for close to twenty-four years. He is the only player to have scored one hundred international centuries, the first batsman to score a double century in an ODI, the holder of the record for the most number of runs in both Test and ODI, and the only player to complete more than 30,000 runs in international cricket. He is colloquially known as Little Master or Master Blaster, and often referred to as the God of Cricket by Indian cricket followers. In 2001, Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman to complete 10,000 ODI runs in his 259 innings. In 2002, halfway through his career, Wisden Cricketers' Almanack ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Don Bradman, and the second greatest ODI batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards. Later in his career, Tendulkar was a part of the Indian team that won the 2011 World Cup, his first win in six World Cup appearances for India. He had previously been named "Player of the Tournament" at the 2003 edition of the tournament, held in South Africa. In 2013, he was the only Indian cricketer included in an all-time Test World XI named to mark the 150th anniversary of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack.
After including Singh in Mumbai squad for the 2014–15 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in March 2015, the Mumbai Cricket Association selector Milind Rege remarked, "I am utmost impressed. We were looking for someone like him to take Mumbai cricket forward. We played him in two trial matches to pick the Mumbai team. I asked the captain of the team to bowl him in the power play overs and I think he fulfilled what we were looking for. He’s accurate, a brilliant fielder and has the cricketing IQ." [2] In November 2018, playing as an outstation player for Puducherry in the U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy, Singh picked up all the 10 wickets in an innings against Manipur. [3]
2014–15 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the sixth season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket tournament in India. It was contested by 27 domestic cricket teams of India.
The Mumbai Cricket Association is the governing body for cricket in Mumbai and its surrounding regions like Thane and Navi Mumbai. The jurisdiction of MCA includes the area up to Dahanu in the Western Suburbs, Badlapur in the Central Suburbs, and Navi Mumbai up to Kharghar. The association comes under west zone. The Association was established in 1930 and it has a Constitution. Sharad Pawar was re-elected as the president of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) after defeating Vijay Patil by a margin of 27 votes at the biennial elections held in Mumbai. Pawar defeated Patil 172-145 in a straight contest for MCA president.
Milind Rege is a former Indian first-class cricketer who played for Bombay cricket team from 1967/68 to 1977/78. He is the chairman of selectors with the Mumbai Cricket Association. He also works as the head of Corporate Communications, Administration and Personnel functions of Tata Steel at its Mumbai head office.
