Signe Amundsen Finsland (9 June 1899 - 13 May 1987) was a Norwegian operatic soprano. She studied singing in her native country with the soprano Mimi Hviid before making her professional debut at the Gamle Logen in Oslo in 1920. She then pursued further voice studies in Rome with Rosina Storchia and made her Italian debut at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in 1925 as Norina in Gaetano Donizetti's Don Pasquale . She was heard at that house later that year as Rosina in Gioachino Rossini's The Barber of Seville . She was then heard in the title role of Giuseppe Verdi's Aida at La Scala, and during her time in Milan studied singing further with the conductor Antonio Votto. She was soon heard at the Opéra-Comique in Paris as Santuzza in Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana . After further engagements in the French provinces, she became a member of the National Theatre, Oslo where she remained active for the rest of her career. Teresa Berganza VargasOAXS was a Spanish mezzo-soprano. She is most closely associated with roles such as Rossini's Rosina and La Cenerentola, and later Bizet's Carmen, admired for her technical virtuosity, musical intelligence, and beguiling stage presence. Berganza was a key singer in a Rossini renaissance which explored less performed operas and restored the leading roles to mezzo register. She appeared as Zerlina in Joseph Losey's Don Giovanni film in 1979. She participated in the opening ceremonies of the Expo '92 in Seville and of the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
Kirsten Malfrid Flagstad was a Norwegian opera singer, who was the outstanding Wagnerian soprano of her era. Her triumphant debut in New York on 2 February 1935 is one of the legends of opera. Ida Basilier-Magelssen (1846–1928) was a Finnish soprano, who sang in both concerts and opera performances. After a period with the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, she returned to Helsinki where she was particularly active in 1876–77, singing in 12 different operas for a total of 110 performances at the Finnish Opera. She also toured in Germany, France, Russia and Great Britain.
Vendela Linnea Andersson-Sörensen (1860–1926) was a Swedish operatic soprano. After training under the opera singer Isidor Dannström, in 1880 she made her début at Stockholm's Nya teatern as Adele in Daniel Auber's Svarte dominon. She performed leading soprano roles at the Royal Swedish Opera where she was engaged from 1882 to 1887. After her marriage in early 1888, she gave concerts and appeared in opera as a guest performer.
