Sigrid Burger also simply known as Sigi Burger (born 23 February 1996) is a South African netball player who plays in the positions of goal shooter. UK [1] [2] [3] She was also part of the South African squad which finished at fourth position at the 2019 Netball World Cup. [4]

Career

Sigrid made her international debut for South Africa against Wales at the [[2016 Wales- South Africa test series. She also played for the South African university netball team at the 2016 World University Netball Championships where South Africa eventually went onto become the champions. [5] She also represented South Africa at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, her maiden Commonwealth Games appearance and was part of the South African squad which finished at fifth position in the netball tournament. [6]

She was signed up by Surrey Storm club in 2018 and played for the club at the 2018 Netball Superleague season. [7] [8] She also received NWU Sportswoman of the Year 2018 for her performances at both domestic and international level. [9]

She was not initially included in the South African squad for the 2019 Netball World Cup. [10] But she was later added to the squad as an injury replacement to Ine-Mari Venter during the back end of the tournament. [11]

She was also a key member of the South African squad which won the 2019 African Netball Championships which was held in Cape Town. [12] [13]

She switched to play for London Pulse club for the upcoming 2020 Netball Superleague season after featuring for the Surrey Storm club nearly for two years in the Netball Superleague. [14]

Surrey Storm is an English netball team based at the University of Surrey. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. Between 2001 and 2005 they played in the Super Cup as London Hurricanes. After forming a partnership with Brunel University London, they became the Brunel Hurricanes. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the new Netball Superleague. Before the 2009–10 Netball Superleague season, they ended their partnership with Brunel University, relocated to the University of Surrey and became Surrey Storm. Shadine van der Merwe is a South African netball player. The 2021 Netball Superleague season was the sixteenth season of the Netball Superleague, the elite domestic netball competition in the United Kingdom. The season started on 12 February 2021. Manchester Thunder were the defending champions, as they won the 2019 season and the 2020 season was cancelled after three rounds due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the first nine weeks of matches were held at Studio 001 in Wakefield, and the remaining matches were held at the Copper Box Arena in London. All matches were originally scheduled to be held behind closed doors, though from week 17 onwards, limited numbers of fans were permitted into matches, due to a change in the UK Government guidelines.

Lefébre Rademan is a South African netball player, who has represented the national team. At club level, she plays for Celtic Dragons in the British Netball Superleague (NSL), and has previously played for London Pulse in the NSL and Free State Crinums in the South African Netball League.

Sophie Drakeford-Lewis is an English netball player who plays for Surrey Storm and has represented the national team. She has previously played for Saracens Mavericks and Team Bath, and was awarded the Young Player of the Season Award for the 2019 Netball Superleague season. As a youngster, Drakeford-Lewis played tennis, and she was at one time the highest ranked Briton at under-16 and under-18 level.

The 2022 Netball Superleague season was the seventeenth season of the Netball Superleague, the elite domestic netball competition in the United Kingdom. Loughborough Lightning were the defending champions, as they won the 2021 season. The season began on 5 February, and ended with the grand final on 5 June.
