Sigrid Maurer (Sigrid V. "Sigi" Maurer, born 19 March 1985 Rum, Tyrol) is an Austrian politician, and former student representative, (GRAS). Since 7 January of 2020 she serves as the club chairwoman of the Austrian Greens and is a member of the Austrian national council since 2019 and before between 2013 and 2017.
Maurer studied music and political science without graduating at the University of Innsbruck from 2004 to 2009. Subsequently, she studied sociology at the University of Vienna and graduated in 2017 (Bachelor of Arts). [1]
Since 2005, Maurer has been involved in the Austrian Students Union and became a member of the Green & Alternative Students (GRAS). [2] From October 2013 to November 2017, she was a member of the National Council. In the 2019 Austrian legislative election, she ran for the Vienna Greens on the third list in the state constituency of Vienna. [3]
The Greens – The Green Alternative is a green political party in Austria. The Greens are in a coalition with the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) in the Nehammer government. Before they were part of the Schallenberg government and the Second Kurz government. The current President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, is from the Green Party.

On 4 December 2017, the Constitutional Court ruled that the non-discrimination and equality provisions of the Constitution of Austria guarantee same-sex couples the right to marry. The decision took effect on 1 January 2019, making Austria the 24th country in the world and the fifteenth in Europe to allow same-sex couples to marry nationwide. Polling indicates that a majority of Austrians support the legal recognition of same-sex marriage.

Yella Hertzka was an Austrian women's rights and peace activist, school director, and music business executive. She began working in women's humanitarian and social improvement projects in 1900. Co-founding the Neuer Wiener Frauenklub in 1903, she served as its president from 1909 to 1933.
