The National Assembly of Pakistan is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of Pakistan,with the upper house being the Senate. As of 2023,the National Assembly has a maximum membership of 342,of which 266 are directly elected by an adult universal suffrage and a first-past-the-post system to represent their respective constituencies,while 70 are elected on reserved seats for women and religious minorities from all over the country and six on reserved seats for former Federally Administered Tribal Areas,and the members hold their seats for five years or until the house is dissolved by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister. The house convenes at the Parliament House,Red Zone,Islamabad.
Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman is a Pakistani politician who is the president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F). He is also the president of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM),a coalition of political parties which ousted then prime minister Imran Khan through a no-confidence motion in 2022. He was a member of the National Assembly between 1988 and 2018,and the Leader of the Opposition from 2004 to 2007. He is a supporter of the Taliban government in Afghanistan and has demanded for its international recognition. In the 1980s,he was part of the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD),which was formed to end the military regime of General Zia-ul-Haq.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is a Pakistani politician who is the former Chief Minister of Punjab when he,as Chief Minister,had dissolved the Assembly. He had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 till January 2023. In 2023,he left the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and was appointed its president along with his son,Moonis Elahi,and other ten former PML(Q) MPAs over political rifts with the party president,Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He was the former president of the Punjab Division of the PML(Q).
Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is a Pakistani politician and businessman who is currently serving as the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan,in office since 11 April 2022. He is the current president of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N). Previously in his political career,he served as the Chief Minister of Punjab three times,making him the longest-serving Chief Minister of Punjab.
Dr. Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi is a Pakistani politician currently serving as the 13th President of Pakistan,in office since 9 September 2018 and reporting to Imran khan.He was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from June 2013 to May 2018 and again from August to September 2018. A founding member of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI),Alvi was elected as President of Pakistan on 4 September 2018 following the presidential elections.
Raja Riaz Ahmad is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till August 2023. Previously,he was the Punjab Minister for Irrigation and Power and was also the member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab between 1993 and 2013. He had been leader of opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan from May 2022 till August 2023.

General elections were held in Pakistan on Wednesday,25 July 2018 to elect the members of 15th National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies. The three major parties were Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Imran Khan,the Pakistan Muslim League led by Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistan Peoples Party led by Bilawal Bhutto. The PTI won the most seats in the National Assembly but fell short of a majority;the party subsequently formed a coalition government with several smaller parties. At the provincial level,the PTI remained the largest party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP);the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) retained its dominance in Sindh and the newly formed Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) emerged as the largest party in Balochistan. In Punjab,the result was a hung parliament with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) winning the most seats. However,after several independents MPAs joined the PTI,the latter became the largest party and was able to form a government.
NA-48 Islamabad-III is a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan.
