Don Edward Baylor, nicknamed "Groove," was an American professional baseball player, coach and manager. During his 19 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), Baylor was a power hitter known for standing very close to home plate and was a first baseman, left fielder, and designated hitter. He played for six different American League (AL) teams, primarily the Baltimore Orioles and California Angels, but he also played for the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, and Boston Red Sox. In 1979, Baylor was an All-Star and won the AL Most Valuable Player Award. He won three Silver Slugger Awards, the Roberto Clemente Award, and was a member of the 1987 World Series champion Minnesota Twins.
Kliff Timothy Kingsbury is an American football coach and former quarterback. He is a senior offensive analyst and quarterbacks coach at the University of Southern California, a position he has held since 2023. He was head football coach for Texas Tech University from 2013 to 2018 and the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL) from 2019 to 2022. Kingsbury is known for coaching quarterback prospects including Johnny Manziel, Patrick Mahomes, and Kyler Murray. Despite coaching that group he has a career losing record in both the NFL and NCAA.
Walter Augustus Abercrombie is a former professional American football running back and kick returner who played in the National Football League. He was selected in first round of the 1982 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers after playing college football for Baylor. Abercrombie was born and raised in Waco, Texas and was a standout running back at Waco University High School before moving down the street to Baylor University.
