The album received a 7.9 score from Pitchfork, with Matthew Ismael Ruiz stating it "feels like the best of Aye Nako". [2] Peter Ellman, reviewing for Exclaim! , gave it 8/10, commenting on how the band juxtaposed "at-times-jarring post-punk guitar parts with pretty, melodic, even catchy choruses". [4] William Kennedy of The Portland Mercury called it "bracing and vital ’90s-era guitar rock with elements of pop punk and enough messy, open-chord Sonic Youth-style tunings". [5]

Calexico is an American indie rock band based in Tucson, Arizona. Founded in 1996, the band's two main members, Joey Burns and John Convertino, first played together in Los Angeles as part of the group Giant Sand. They have recorded a number of albums on Quarterstick Records and City Slang, and their 2005 EP, In the Reins, recorded with Iron & Wine, reached the Billboard 200 album charts. Their musical style is influenced by traditional Latin sounds of mariachi, conjunto, cumbia, and tejano mixed with country, jazz, and post-rock.
Still Pending was an American punk children band, formed in Portland, Oregon, United States, in 2005. The band originally comprising three young musicians, Reed Gulick-Stutz, Grant Ellman, and Ian Rogers. In June 2007, Rogers left the band and was replaced by Andrew Turel in August 2007. It is rumored that the band broke up due to drummer and vocalist Grant Ellman embarking on a Jamaican Patois vocalism and lyric training course, leaving little time for him to perform his band duties because of the intense training schedule. It was produced by the duo and Randall Dunn and features collaborations with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anika, and Marc Ribot. Two singles were released from the album, both with music videos directed by Jem Cohen. It was received positively by critics.
