Altinópolis is a Brazilian municipality in the state of São Paulo. The population is 16,203 in an area of 929 km². The city is known for its sights, like the Praça das Esculturas, and its wide variety of caves and waterfalls.

The park houses the works of the Italian-Brazilian artist Bassano Vaccarini. Praça das Esculturas, which opened in 1992, covers 7,000 square metres (75,000 sq ft) at the highest point of the city.
Marechal Cordeiro de Farias Square is a square located in the Higienópolis neighborhood of the district of Consolação, São Paulo, Brazil. It begins at the terminus of Paulista Avenue, and has corners on Minas Gerais, Itápolis avenues and Angelica street. The square is named after the Marshal Osvaldo Cordeiro de Farias (1901-1981), a Brazilian revolutionary, politician, and former governor of the State of Rio Grande do Sul.

The Suzano Massacre, also known as the Suzano school attack, was a school shooting that took place on March 13, 2019, at the Professor Raul Brasil State School in the Brazilian municipality of Suzano, São Paulo State. The perpetrators, 17-year-old Guilherme Taucci Monteiro and 25-year-old Luiz Henrique de Castro, both former students at the school, killed five students and two school employees. Before the attack, in a car shop near the school, the pair also killed Monteiro's uncle. After the shooting, Monteiro killed his partner and then committed suicide.

Voters elected a governor, vice governor, one senator, 25 representatives for the Chamber of Deputies, and 49 Legislative Assembly members. Paulo Câmara, the incumbent governor of Pernambuco, was reelected in the first round in 2018 Pernambuco gubernatorial election, with 1,918,219 votes, the equivalent to 50.70% of the valid votes. He wasn't eligible for a new term, since he ran for governor in 2014 and 2018. In a crowded field, former mayor of Caruaru Raquel Lyra (PSDB) defeated Federal Deputy Marília Arraes (Solidarity) by close to 20 points in the second round. She was inaugurated on 1 January 2023.
