Simon Levy Dabbah is a Mexican former government official and Chinese law specialist. [1] [2]

Early life and education

Levy Dabbah was born in Mexico. He earned a bachelor's degree in law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2001. He specialized in Chinese Law at Renmin University of China in 2004. He pursued a master's degree in international management from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 2010 [3] and an MBA from the School of Management at Tecnológico de Monterrey (EGADE ITESM) in 2012. [2] Levy completed his PhD in public-private partnerships and urban economy at UNAM and conducted post-doctoral studies at Yale University, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Data Science and AI at UC Berkeley and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. [4]

Career highlights

Levy served as the undersecretary of tourism for the Mexican government from December 2018 to May 2019, [5] [6] appointed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Prior to this, he was the CEO of the Investment and Development Agency of the Mexico City Government, PROCDMX. [7] [8] [9] Levy was the chairman of the board of Latinasia Group, an investment fund organization, for ten years. [3] [10] Currently, he is the chairman of Ideasia Investment Fund and serves as a board member. [4] [11]

Academic contributions

Levy has been a professor at UNAM's Law Faculty since 2006 and has taught international management and entrepreneurship at Tecnológico de Monterrey (2009–2011). He founded the Mexico-China National Professorship at UNAM and the first Mexico-China specialized think tank “Agendasia.” [3] [4]

Miguel Ángel Mancera Espinosa is a Mexican lawyer and politician who works with the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).[A] He served as the Mayor of Mexico City from 2012 to 2018. Mancera graduated from the Faculty of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1989, and he was awarded the Gabino Barreda Medal two years later for being the best student of his class. He has a master's degree from the University of Barcelona and the Metropolitan Autonomous University and a Juris Doctor from the UNAM.

Rosa María Beltrán Álvarez is a Mexican novelist, short story writer, essayist, and translator. Same-sex marriage has been legal in Morelos since 5 July 2016. A bill to amend the State Constitution to legalize same-sex marriage in Morelos passed Congress on 18 May 2016 by 20 votes to 6. Ratification by a majority of the state's 33 municipalities was confirmed on 27 June 2016. The law was published in the official state gazette on 4 July 2016 and took effect the following day.

Same-sex marriage has been legal in Sinaloa since 30 June 2021. On 12 June 2021, a federal court ordered the Congress of Sinaloa to pass a same-sex marriage law by 15 June, in accordance with jurisprudence established by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. Subsequently, same-sex marriage legislation passed Congress unanimously on 15 June. It was published in the official state journal on 29 June, and entered into force the following day, making Sinaloa the 20th Mexican state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Bertha Xóchitl Gálvez Ruiz is a Mexican politician and businesswoman. From 2015 until 2018, she was mayor of Mexico City's Miguel Hidalgo borough. From 2018 to 2023, she was a plurinominal senator in the Mexican Congress's LXIV and LXV Legislatures. As a senator, she caucused with the center-right National Action Party, but she frequently supported progressive politics on social issues such as abortion, drug policy, and social spending. She graduated from the UNAM School of Engineering with a degree in computer engineering. She received the nomination as the Fuerza y Corazón por México coalition's nominee for the 2024 Mexican presidential election.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Samuel García (politician)</span> Mexican politician (born 1987)

Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda is a Mexican lawyer and politician serving as the Governor of Nuevo León. A member of the Citizens' Movement party, he served as a local deputy in the Congress of Nuevo León from 2015 to 2018 and represented Nuevo León in the Senate from 2018 to 2020.

Same-sex marriage has been legal in the State of Mexico since 2 November 2022. On 11 October 2022, the Congress of the State of Mexico voted 50–16 with seven abstentions to pass a bill legalizing same-sex marriage. It was published on 1 November 2022, and took effect the next day. The State of Mexico was the third-to-last state in Mexico to provide for same-sex marriage.
