Simon Rouby is a French director of animated films.
Simon Rouby was born in Lyon, France, in 1980. [1] At a very young age, he learned how to paint and sculpt. He studied drawing for two years at Ecole Emile Cohl and later decided to pursue animation at Ecole des Gobelins in Paris before leaving to study at Calarts in Los Angeles, US. [1] These studies allowed him to direct his first short films: Blindspot and Le Présage in the same year. In 2010, he directs La Marche, another short film, produced by Naïa Productions. La Marche is selected in several animation festivals in France and abroad. In 2011, he started working with the scriptwriter Julien Lilti on the conception of his first feature film, Adama , which was released in 2015. [2] Simon Rouby is interested in hybrid animation techniques, notably mixing sculpture with CGI modeling.
Gobelins, l'école de l'image is a school of visual communication and arts in Paris, France, with its main location near the Latin Quarter. A consular school funded by the Parisian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, it provides several programs at a range of fees.
Michel Ocelot is a French writer, designer, storyboard artist and director of animated films and television programs and a former president of the International Animated Film Association. H5 is a French design and animation studio founded by Ludovic Houplain and Antoine Bardou-Jacquet in 1994. Under Houplain's art direction, H5's work can mostly be found in the fields of music videos and luxury advertising. Since 1999, H5 has also worked as a collective of directors. They also made their first animated clips, such as animated typography for Alex Gopher, a cartoon for Zebda, digital animations for Super Furry Animals and Playgroup.

Oktapodi is a 2007 French animated short film that originated as a Graduate Student Project from Gobelins L'Ecole de L'Image. The film is about a pair of love struck octopuses who through a series of comical events are separated and must find each other. Oktapodi was directed by Julien Bocabeille, François-Xavier Chanioux, Olivier Delabarre, Thierry Marchand, Quentin Marmier, and Emud Mokhberi. Music was composed by Kenny Wood.
Adama is a 2015 French animated drama film directed by Simon Rouby. It tells the story of a young West African boy who sets off across Europe in search of his older brother during the First World War. It premiered at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in June 2015.
Le Building is a 2005 French animated short film directed by a team of final year students at Gobelins, l'École de l'image. The story depicts a series of slapstick accidents that cause destruction to a three-story apartment complex. Le Building's team of five directors is composed of Pierre Perifel and Olivier Staphylas, both of whom went on to become Annie Award-recognized animators at DreamWorks, Xavier Ramonède and Annie award-nominated Marco Nguyen, who have continued their careers with animation credits on various high-profile French productions, and Rémi Zaarour, who has since become a comic book artist, published under the pseudonym Pozla.
TVPaint Animation is a 2D paint and digital animation software package developed by TVPaint Developpement SARL based in Lorraine, France. Originally released for Amiga in 1991, version 3.0 (1994) introduced support for other platforms. In 1999, the last Amiga version 3.59 was released as free download. TVPaint Animation currently runs on Mac, Windows, Linux, and Android operating systems.
Marco Nguyen is a French animator, known for his work on French feature films, as well as for his short film Lisa, which served as the pilot for an unproduced television series, and for his award-winning student film Le Building. He directed the music video for Tryo's song "Greenwashing", served as an animation director on the 2011 French film The Rabbi's Cat, and served as an assistant director on the 2019 French film The Swallows of Kabul. In 2017, he received an Annie Award nomination in the Character Animation category for The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales. Nguyen also developed cutscenes for the 2018 video game Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom.
Pierre Perifel is a French animator and filmmaker, best known for his work at DreamWorks Animation. He has directed the feature film The Bad Guys (2022) and the award-winning short films Le Building (2005) and Bilby (2018).
Olivier Staphylas is a French animator, known for his work at DreamWorks Animation and for his award-winning student film, Le Building. He joined DreamWorks in 2006 and, within a few years, attained the role of supervising animator on How to Train Your Dragon. His work on 2011's Puss in Boots, supervising the titular character's animation, earned him nominations for an Annie Award and a Visual Effects Society Award. He then served as head of character animation on Penguins of Madagascar. Starting in 2014, he served in that position at Oriental DreamWorks. Staphylas has since left DreamWorks and worked on 2021's Wish Dragon alongside Base FX and Sony Pictures Animation.
Rémi Zaarour, known by the pseudonym Pozla is a French cartoonist and animator. He is best known for his graphic novels and for his award-winning student film Le Building.
Xavier Ramonède is a French animator and artist, best known for his work on various French films and international co-productions, such as Nocturna and The Illusionist, the French webseries Les Kassos, and his award-winning student film Le Building. Ramonède's artwork has also been featured in multiple publications.
Lucrèce Andreae is a French director, screenwriter and animator. She directed the short film Grandpa Walrus which won the César Award for Best Short Film during The Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques in 2018 and The Audience Award during The Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Flóra Anna Buda is a Hungarian film director and animator based in Paris, France. She is mostly known for writing and directing the multi-award-winning short film 27, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, where it won the Palme d'Or du court métrage. Buda has also written and directed the award-winning short film Entropia (2019), which was her university graduation project at MOME.
