The Singapore Book Publishers Association (SBPA) was incorporated in May 1968 with 22 company members, 14 of which were of Singapore origin. As of 1 July 2016 the association has 64 members engaged in a wide range of publishing, marketing and distribution activities. These are in the areas of educational textbooks, children's books, general and trade books, academic and scholarly publications, reference materials and some electronic publications.
The main aims of the association are to encourage fair trade practices and maintain high standards of workmanship and service in the publishing business; to encourage the widest possible distribution of printed books in Singapore in particular and throughout the world in general; and to promote and protect, by all lawful means, the interests of the publishers in Singapore.
At the AGM held on 11 May 2016, the following publishers were installed as members of the Executive Committee of the Singapore Book Publishers Association for the new two-year term 2016–2018:

Philip Antony Jeyaretnam is a Singaporean judge, lawyer and author who has been serving as Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court and Judge of the High Court of Singapore since 2021. Prior to his appointments, he served as ASEAN chief executive officer and global vice-chair at Dentons. He also served as President of the Law Society of Singapore between 2004 and 2007. Jeyaretnam was also one of the youngest lawyers to be appointed Senior Counsel in 2003 at the age of 38.
Popular Holdings Limited, more commonly known as just Popular or colloquially as the Popular Bookstore, is a Singaporean multinational bookstore chain. Aside from Singapore, it also has subsidiaries in countries such as Canada, China, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
Marshall Cavendish is a subsidiary company of Times Publishing Group, the printing and publishing subsidiary of Singapore-based conglomerate Fraser and Neave, and at present is a publisher of books, business directories and magazines. Marshall Cavendish was established in the United Kingdom in 1968 by Norman Marshall (1921-1975)and Patrick Cavendish (1939-2000). Times Publishing Group acquired it in 1980.
Shaw Organisation is a film distribution company and cinema chain founded by brothers Runme Shaw and Run Run Shaw who went to Singapore in the 1920s to expand their family business founded by Runje Shaw. The company originally operated as a distributor for the Shaw brothers' Tianyi Film Company in Shanghai. Run Run Shaw later moved to Hong Kong in the 1950s to run Shaw Brothers Studio, whilst Runme Shaw stayed in Singapore to continue Shaw Organisation's operations. Unlike Tianyi, Shaw Organisation does not produce films but distribute them in their theatres.
Tuttle Publishing, originally the Charles E. Tuttle Company, is a book publishing company that includes Tuttle, Periplus Editions, and Journey Editions. A company profile describes it as an "International publisher of innovative books on design, cooking, martial arts, language, travel and spirituality with a focus on China, Japan and Southeast Asia." Many of its books on Asian martial arts, particularly those on Japanese martial arts, were the first widely read publications on these subjects in the English language.

Morten Strange is a Danish-born, Singapore-based independent financial analyst. He is a former bird photographer, author and publisher. Strange was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and studied economics at Aarhus University 1971-73; he served in the Danish army as a sergeant in the field artillery. From 1974, Strange worked in the offshore oil industry in the North Sea and later in South-east Asia and China as a field services engineer; he retired from the oil business in 1986 as a field services supervisor. Since then, Strange has worked for the Danish Ornithological Society, for Nature's Niche Pte Ltd and for Draco Publishing and Distribution Pte Ltd. Strange was based in Singapore from 1980 to 1993 and again from 1999 onwards, and is now a Singapore permanent resident; he is the father of four sons from two marriages.
MPH Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian group of companies best known for its book retailing and online retailing services as well as being involved in the printing, publishing and distribution of books and library services in Malaysia and Singapore. Its bookstore chain, MPH Bookstores Sdn Bhd, headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, has been among the largest in Malaysia after Popular. In 2020 MPH closed many of its bookstores in Malaysia and Singapore and concentrated its efforts on selling books via its online bookstore.
