Sings the Moon is the third studio album released by the American artist John Mark Nelson on June 24, 2014. To fund the album production Nelson released a Kickstarter campaign and raised the goal on February 7, 2013.
On August 12, 2012, Nelson released his second album Waiting and Waiting . After this was released he started to write and compose some songs for his upcoming album. Nelson said about the album "The next album will explore the idea of life, looking at the various seasons in which we find ourselves over the course of a lifetime. From the warm haze of childhood, to the bleak uncertainty of old age, this record explores the emotions we are faced with throughout our human lives". On the Kickstarter page, that was launched on January 17, 2013, and funded on February 7, 2013, with the goal of $16,735. [1] The album was produced by Matt Patrick in collaboration with Nelson.
To write and compose the sounds for Sings The Moon, Nelson used full-band arrangements, vignettes, guitar and piano, percussion, strings, horns, mandolin and accordion.
The album's first single "The Moon and the Stars" was released on MTV on 13 August 2013. The music video was directed by Will Keeler. [2] His second single "Boy", [3] was directed by Mairin Hart and released on October 22, 2014.

Matt Patrick is an American record producer, studio owner, engineer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. After high school he began learning other instruments such as mandolin, accordion, dobro, pedal steel, Hammond organ, and various electronic synthesizers.
It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water, sometimes shortened to It Was Hot, is the second studio album by American indie folk and indie rock band the Microphones. It was released by K Records on September 26, 2000. After Phil Elverum—the frontman, principal songwriter, and producer of the Microphones's albums—had gained a small following with 1999's Don't Wake Me Up, he recorded It Was Hot in Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia, Washington, between September 1999 and March 2000. The album was recorded on analogue tape; Elverum embraced the medium's technical imperfections. The album was described as indie rock, lo-fi, and indie pop and was inspired by Elverum's visits to the ocean. As a whole, the album centers on the theme of water, while its lyricism is heavily themed on nature. The 11-minute track "The Glow" acts as the album's climax and introduces the concept of the "glow", which was explored in more depth on 2001's The Glow Pt. 2.

John Mark Nelson (born November 23, 1993) is an American songwriter and producer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. John Mark Nelson released his debut album Still Here in 2011. His second release, Waiting and Waiting, was released in August 2012. In June 2014, Nelson released his third album, Sings the Moon, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign that helped him fund the project. His fourth full-length album, I'm Not Afraid, was released in September 2015 on GRNDWIRE Records.

Timbre Cierpke, better known as Timbre, is an American musician, composer, harpist, singer and songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. Timbre fronts her eponymous neoclassical / baroque pop band "Timbre", which has toured throughout Europe and the US. After receiving her Bachelor's of Music in Harp Performance from Trevecca University., Timbre's double album Sun & Moon was chosen by UNESCO's Crossings Institute as one of the most important albums of the 2010s. Timbre went on to record with Jack White on his album Lazaretto. In 2017, she announced on Twitter that she was on tour as part of Karen Elson's band opening for Ryan Adams. Timbre is also a founder and the Music Director for SONUS choir and plays harp for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra
