Sirasa Catchpoint is a Sri Lankan physical quiz game show that premiered on Sirasa TV on 12 July 2025. [1] It is the first Asian adaptation of the popular ITV Studios format, Catchpoint, originally broadcast by the BBC in the UK. [2] The Sri Lankan version is produced by Sirasa TV under license from ITV Studios and is hosted by popular young actor Yash Weerasinghe. [3]
The show features two teams of two contestants who answer general knowledge and observation-based questions. The answers are displayed on LED panels across a game stage. For each question, balls drop from trapdoors above the correct answer positions. Contestants must run, position themselves correctly, and catch the ball as it falls in order to score points. The team with the highest score at the end proceeds to the final round for a chance to win a grand cash prize.
The program includes:
Yash Weerasinghe, known for his roles in Sinhala television dramas and youth-oriented programs, brings charisma and youthful energy to the show. His hosting has been praised for being engaging and supportive of first-time contestants. [5]
Sirasa Catchpoint is filmed at the Stein Studios complex in Ratmalana, Sri Lanka, with a custom-built game stage. The set design incorporates dynamic lighting, digital displays, and an arena-style contestant area inspired by the original UK version.
The show is a collaboration between Sirasa TV and ITV Studios, marking the first time Catchpoint has been adapted for an Asian audience. Local adaptations were supervised by format experts from ITV to ensure authenticity and entertainment value.
Upon release, Sirasa Catchpoint received positive reviews from local media and audiences. Viewers praised its fresh format, high production value, and Yash Weerasinghe's performance as host. Social media engagement during the premiere week included trending hashtags such as #CatchpointLK and #YashLiveOnSirasa.
The show airs every Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 PM on Sirasa TV. It is also available for streaming via the Sirasa TV Live app and the Maharaja Network YouTube channel.
