Sirasa TV is a digital, terrestrial television network in Sri Lanka. It is the sister channel of 'TV 1' (Previously MTV Channel and MTV Sports) which was established in 1992. Sirasa TV was started in 1998 as a sister to its radio network Sirasa FM. Sirasa TV is owned by the Sri Lankan business conglomerate, Capital Maharaja Group together with Gregson Holdings Ltd. Since then, another multi-national company - International Media Management - has also invested in MTV. It broadcasts its programs mainly in Sinhala.
Fifteen masked gunmen stormed the studio and transmission complex and destroyed the main control room of the group on 6 January 2009. [2] [3] Investigations revealed that a Claymore mine was used for the attack. [4] Critics and observers linked the attack to the controversial reporting that was adopted in relation to the capture of Kilinochchi by Government Forces. [5] Opposition political parties and associated media organizations accused the government of being responsible for the attack.

Mass media of Sri Lanka consist of several different types of communications media: television, radio, newspapers, magazines, and Web sites. State and private media operators provide services in the main languages Sinhala, Tamil and English. The government owns two major TV stations, radio networks operated by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), and newspaper titles in Sinhala, Tamil, and English.
Siyatha TV is a private Sri Lankan 4K Ultra HD channel currently broadcasting in Sri Lanka in the Sinhala language. It is owned by the Voice of Asia Network (Pvt) Ltd, which also runs radio channels named Siyatha FM, Real Radio, Kiss FM and Vettri FM.
Dialog TV (DTV) is a direct broadcast satellite pay TV service provider based in Sri Lanka. A fully owned subsidiary of Dialog Axiata PLC, Dialog TV was launched in July 2005 under the name "CBNsat". It was later renamed to Dialog TV in February 2007 after the company was acquired by Dialog Axiata PLC.
Api Nodanna Live was a Sri Lankan comedy sketch television show that was broadcast by Sirasa TV. It starred Gaminda Priyaviraj and Suneth Chithrananda as the characters Podi Malli and Chooti Malli. Both names connote younger brother. However, chooti usually has more emphasis, so Chooti Malli is probably to be considered the younger of the two characters.
TV Derana is a Sri Lankan private entertainment terrestrial television channel broadcasting in Sri Lanka. Launched on 11 October 2005, it is one of the most popular television networks in the country. TV 1 is a Sri Lankan general entertainment television channel that provides content in both English and Sinhalese, aimed at the youth market. Its sister channel, MTV, was renamed Sirasa TV in June 1998, and MTV Newsvision was renamed MTV. MTV was later rebranded as Channel One MTV. On 26 January 2012, the channel was relaunched as MTV Sports. MTV Sports was rebranded as MTV in July 2015. The channel was renamed TV 1 on 21 January 2016.
