TNL TV is an English and Sinhala-language television station in Sri Lanka, owned by Telshan Network. Launched in 1993, TNL TV was one of Sri Lanka's first privately owned television channels. Shan Wickremesinghe, the chairman of Telshan Network, is the brother of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The first television broadcast dedicated for teledramas, Tnl broadcast from 6 am to midnight everyday. [1]

Broadcasting

TNL TV is available on free-to-air analog terrestrial transmission on the following channels: [2]

The transmitter at Polgahawela was seized in 2018 by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka for illegal operation, including on two frequencies. [3] While it had obtained provincial approval for the operation, the TRC had not approved on the federal level. [4]

In April 2024, Supreme Media formed a partnership with TNL. [5] With this alliance, Supreme Media expanded itself into a media network with two TV channels which includes Supreme TV and TNL (which subsequently got rebranded as TNL Supreme), along with a radio station and three digital channels.

TNL TV is available via satellite on Dialog TV (channel 11) And Lanka Broadband Network, Cable TV, (channel 13), IPTV, And YuppTV [6] After its rebranding as TNL Supreme, the channel is available in the frequencies of VHF 11 (217.25 MHz) - Piliyandala, UHF 21 (471.25 MHz) - Colombo, VHF 04 (62.25 MHz) - Kandy Light, UHF 26 (511.25 MHz) - Gongala, UHF 26 (511.25 MHz) - Kandy, VHF 11 (217.25 MHz) - Kargahathanna, UHF 21 (471.25 MHz)- Badulla, UHF 26 (511.25 MHz) - Ratnapura and UHF 26 (511.25 MHz) - Avissawella. Cricket broadcasting

The first hosted broadcast was for the 2016 Asia Cup tournament from 24 February 2016 to 6 March 2016.

Homagama is a town in the Colombo District, Sri Lanka, about 24 kilometres (15 mi) south-east of Colombo. The Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha consists of the Homagama divisional secretariat and 10 GN division of Padukka DS division. The total Land area is about is 137 square kilometres (53 sq mi) of 90 GN division. The Pradeshiya Sabha was established under act No 15 of 1987, and has the highest population of any pradeshiya sabha area in Sri Lanka. Maharagama is an outer suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka on the High-Level (A4) Road about 10 km (6.2 mi) from the centre of the commercial capital. TV 1 is a Sri Lankan general entertainment television channel that provides content in both English and Sinhalese, aimed at the youth market. It was founded in 1992 as MTV Newsvision, making it one of Sri Lanka's first privately owned television channels. Its sister channel, MTV, was renamed Sirasa TV in June 1998, and MTV Newsvision was renamed MTV. MTV was later rebranded as Channel One MTV. On 26 January 2012, the channel was relaunched as MTV Sports. MTV Sports was rebranded as MTV in July 2015. The channel was renamed TV 1 on 21 January 2016.

Saddha Mangala Sooriyabandara is a Sri Lankan journalist and media personality. He is best known for the television programs Angili Salakuna and Always Breakdown. He has worked as a program director, and before the public as a film and teledrama screenwriter, teledrama producer, television program director, journalist, announcer, songwriter and actor.

Supreme Channel is a television channel currently broadcasting in Sri Lanka in the Sinhala language. It is owned by Supreme Global Holdings and it consists of the DVB-T2 pictures and stereo sounds. It currently holds all island coverage. It's programme content includes: Teledramas, International TV Series, Music, Movies, Documentaries, Entertainment, Political, Children's Programmes and News. The channel airs content mainly focusing on entertainment and sports. It was launched by Supreme Global Holdings. R. M. Manivannan is the chairman of the channel. Famous celebrity and the experienced communication strategist Kanchana Kodituwakku is the director of the Supreme Television.

The 2024 Lanka Premier League was the fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), a Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. The league was organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket. The tournament began on 1 July and the final was played on 21 July 2024. Five franchise teams took part in a double round-robin league followed by a playoffs. Kandy Falcons, formerly known as B-Love Kandy, were the defending champions.
